Welcome Campers

Martens Resort offers an opportunity for individuals and their families (‘camper’s) to enjoy the camping experience. The Resort offers the opportunity for nightly rentals as well as an opportunity for campers to book Seasonal RV Sites.  Management’s goal is to provide a safe and fun, family friendly, atmosphere for all of our guests. The Resort is open from May 1st each year and closes the Tuesday following Thanksgiving weekend.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE

Our checkin time is 3:00pm and our checkout time is 11:00am.

Please contact the resort on your arrival date at 250-396-4427 or stay@martensresort.ca if you will be arriving after 6pm on your checkin date or to find out if an earlier checkin time is available.

Cancellation Policy:

As excited as we are for you to join us, we do understand that cancellations do sometimes occur. If you do need to cancel your reservation, please be aware of the following policies.

I. (NIGHTLY CAMPERS)

Cancellations made more than 20 days prior to arrival date will receive a full refund minus a $39.99 cancellation fee, per accommodation. 

Cancellations made 20 days or less prior to arrival date will not receive a refund and any outstanding balance will become payable on the date of cancellation.  

II.   (SEASONAL RV CAMPERS) Cancellation Policy

Please refer to your "Seasonal Camping Agreement”.

III.    (WEDDINGS AND VENUE RENTAL) Cancellation Policy

Please refer to your “Venue Booking Agreement”.

CAMPGROUND RULES

  1. ARRIVAL & REGISTRATION: All Campers must register at the office upon arrival.  Do not go beyond the gates to the resort grounds or to your Tenting Site, RV Site, or Cabin without first checking in at the office. 
  2. VISITORS: Registered Campers are permitted to have visitors but all visitors must (1) checkin at the office, where they will be required to sign a liability waiver and pay $10 to park their vehicle.  Visitors are not allowed to bring pets to the campground and must leave by 9pm.  Please notify the resort if you are expecting visitors and inform your visitors of the campground rules.  The resort will restrict visitors when at full capacity and all visitors should contact the resort prior to arriving to ensure access will be permitted.
  3. ETIQUETTE: Please do Not cut through occupied sites when navigating the resort.  Please ensure your children understand this rule as well.
  4. ALOCOHOL: Please drink responsibly at all times.  Never operate a motor vehicle, including boats, while under the influence.  
  5. CAMPFIRES / FIREWOOD: Campfires are allowed only in the resorts contained fire rings. Campfires are to be totally extinguished when not personally attended. Management may prohibit campfires at any time when such fires are considered hazardous. At no time shall fire-pits be used to burn garbage.  FIREWOOD: The resort sells firewood.  Propane fire pits are allowed.
  6. OVER-FLOW PARKING: There is a limit of one vehicle allowed on each site. Additional parking for one additional vehicle may be available depending on site size at an additional fee, with overflow parking available in the designated visitor parking area.
  7. SPEED LIMIT: The resort speed limit is 10km per hour, or slower.  Anyone breaking the speed limit will be asked to park in Visitor parking.  ATV'S and Dirtbikes are permitted, but we ask that they are only driven to and from your cabin/campsite while you enjoy trails off the property.  
  8. NOISE: Quiet hours shall be observed from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., with the exception of Friday and Saturday being 11:00pm to 8:00am.  During quiet time hours please keep noise from travelling beyond your campsite.  At all times radios, televisions or similar equipment shall be kept at reasonable noise levels in consideration of other campers. Loud or boisterous parties or noise will not be permitted upon any campsite or within the resort.
  9. GENERATOR RULES: Generators are allowed when RV sites are underpowered to run A/C units on hydro.  Generators should be run at times when their is sufficient ambient noise to mask the sound of the generator and not at times when the resort is quiet.  Generators are not permitted to be run before 9am or after 7pm.  Generators are not permitted to run for any longer than 60 minutes, 3 times per day.  There must be a minimum of 60 minutes between intervals.  
  10. PETS: We know your dog is a member of the family and we welcome your furry friend!  That said, we have to be mindful of all of our campers and we reserve the right to refuse certain dogs and other pets that may illicit a fear response from other campers or are simply not suitable for our campground.  Please leave agressive dogs, dogs that bark often, or dogs that would make most granny's afraid at home.  Resort management will meet all pets at checkin and all approved pets will incur a nightly fee of $10.00/Cabin or $5.00 RV/Tenting, with a maximum of 2 dogs per campsite.  Pets must be kept on a leash and under control at all times while on resort property.  Campers are not allowed to leave resort property and lock their pets in cabins, in RV sites or in tenting sites unattended.  Lastly we ask that you kindly “clean up” after your pets. Refunds will not be issued if your dog is refused entry to the campground, or evicted part way through your stay.   Pit Bulls are not permitted on the property.
  11. SMOKING: Smoking and the use of marijuana shall only be allowed on each individuals Camping Site;  resort management can restrict smoking at any time.  When smoking, please ash in an ash tray or metal can and ensure all butts are fully extinguished before ending up in the resort garbage.  Anyone walking around the grounds smoking will be fined $100.00 to the credit card the reservation has been booked with.  There is no smoking of any substance allowed inside any cabin or on the common resort grounds.  If you smoke please ensure the smoke does not waft into any buildings or cabins or you may be charged a $250.00 cleaning fee.  No illegal substances are allowed on the property at any time.
  12. WATER SAFETY / BOATING: Campers are reminded that their is no lifeguard on duty and that children should be supervised at the water at all times.  ALL campers must abide by Transport Canada's Safe Boating Guide (https://tc.canada.ca/sites/default/files/migrated/tp_511e.pdf) Please ensure you approach the docks and leave the docks at a slow (trolling) rate of speed.  You should be at a trolling speed within 100 feet or less of the shoreline and always watch for swimmers.  All campers bringing boats will be charged $7 to $10 daily, whether parked on property or moored on a dock.  Moorage space will be assigned upon checkin.  Fishing Boat rentals are $125 per day, plus gas.  Boats will be sent out with 10 liters of gas and additional gas can be purchased from the resort if required.  You are not permitted to add your own fuel.  The resort can provide lifejackets to all campers free from charge.
  13. PLAYGROUND: There is a playground meant for young children age 3-7 and another playground meant for children over the age of 7.  Parents please refrain from sitting on the swings of age 3-7 playground and keep your older children off of this playground.  The playground is not monitored and presents inherent risk of danger from falling.  Parents please supervise your children when at the playground.    
  14. CLEANLINESS: Each camper shall keep his or her camping site neat and tidy at all times. No accumulation of junk or debris of any kind shall be permitted on any site.  All Motorhomes, RVs or Travel Trailers must be in good working order and must be kept in an attractive appearance.
  15. CAMPSITE LIMITS: Campsites are for approved guests only.  No more than one recreational vehicle shall be situated upon a single campsite.  Tents may be approved to be set-up on a cabin site, or RV site at an additional charge.  Sleeping in secondary vehicles is not permitted.
  16. GARBAGE AND RECYCLING: The Resort is in a natural wildlife habitat area. There are bears, deers, moose and birds in the area.  Never leave food out for extended periods.  Please ensure all garbage and recycling is disposed of properly in the resorts facilities.
  17. SEPTIC SYSTEM: Please ensure only bodily waste and toilet paper is flushed down the toilet.  Do not let bleach or other chemicals enter our septic system.
  18. TREES: Please do not damage or remove any trees, bushes or landscaping.  
  19. PROHIBITED: Martens Resort prohibits the use of fireworks, sparklers, wish lanterns and all other combustible marterials.  
  20. RESPECT: Please be courteous to other guests around you.  Profanity or violence towards other campers or resort staff will result in immediate eviction from the resort.
  21. WEAPONS: The use of, or carrying of firearms and other weapons is prohibited within the resort.
  22. RESORT AMENITIES:  The resort is always offering more activities for our guests to enjoy.  Common amenity areas are for the enjoyment of all campers and are allocated on a first come first serve basis.  This includes all amenities, from the volleyball court, to horse shoe pits, corn hole games, and playground.   
  23. SPECIAL EVENTS: Martens Resort is a favourite location for Weddings, Anniversary Parties, Birthday Parties and Family Reunions.  These events are private functions and often enjoy exclusive use of the resorts Hall or specific sections of resort grounds.  Resort guests not on the invite list of these special events are asked to give the events privacy.                       
  24. SECURITY CAMERAS: Management may place security cameras in certain common areas around the property for security purposes. By entering the resort you agree and consent to being recorded while on the property.
  25. DAMAGE:  Any damage caused to the rented unit (including but not limited to damage to furniture, fixtures, flooring, walls, doors, appliances, and the unit’s exterior) will be paid by the registered camper.  Martens Resort reserves the right to charge the cost of damage to the Credit Card on file and agrees to provide the guest with a statement of charges.
  26. PARK EVICTION: Campers violating rules that results in eviction notice will not receive any refunds for their stay.

SAFETY FIRST

Camping comes with some inherent risks, from falling on uneven ground, to falling off playground equipment, to the risk of burns from camp fires and the risk of drowning in the lake just to name a few.  It is important that all campers behave in a safe manner while on the resort in order to protect themselves from injury, as well as, not put other campers and resort management in potentially dangerous situations.  Parents and guardians are to supervise their children at all times.  Martens Resort does not monitor or supervise children on the grounds and there is no lifeguard on duty.

As a condition of visiting Martens Resort all campers must forever release, waive, discharge and covenant not to sue Martens Resort Ltd., its directors, employees, heirs and next of kin for any injury, (including death) arising out of your or your children’s (minor wards) participation in the activities of the Campground or while attending the premises.  In signing our terms and conditions you accept its binding on all people in your reservation and it is your responsibility to review this document with all people in your group.

ASSUMPTION OF RISK, RELEASE, WAIVER OF CLAIM AND INDEMNITY

NOTICE: THIS DOCUMENT AFFECTS LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING YOUR RIGHT TO SUE, AND CREATES LEGAL RESPONSIBILITIES.  IN SHORT YOU ARE AGREEING TO THE INHERENT RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH CAMPING AND RELIEVING MARTENS RESORT LTD. OF ALL LIABILITY FOR PERSONAL INJURY TO YOURSELF OR MINOR WARDS, EVEN IN THE EVENT MARTENS RESORT LTD. (‘the Releasees’) ARE NEGLIGENT IN ANYWAY, WHATSOEVER.  PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY.

DEFINITIONS:

“Releasees” - Releasees are defined as Martens Resort Ltd. (‘the resort’) (‘the campground’) and its directors, officers, shareholders, employees, agents, representatives, contractors, successors and assigns.

“Premises” - shall include, but is not limited to: the real property known generally as Martens Resort, cabins, RV sites, tenting sites, beach, docks, water, swimming rafts, powerboat(s), swim floats, boat/tailer storage, campfires and camp grills, playground, inflatable play ground and all other grounds, service areas, facilities and natural environment located within the confines of Martens Resort property, or accessed directly therefrom.

“Activities” - shall include, but is not limited to: swimming, fishing, water sports, boating, biking, hiking, use of playground activity, use of inflatable play ground, attendance at events, including weddings, parties and reunions, and all other forms of physical activity, whether at the premises or elsewhere.

TO: MARTENS RESORT LTD.

In consideration of Martens Resort Ltd., and its directors, officers, shareholders, employees, agents, representatives, contractors, successors and assigns (all of whom are hereinafter referred to as the “RELEASEES”) accepting my request to book camping accommodations, and/or allow me to be a visitor on the premises and/or take part in activities, I agree to the following (1-5 BELOW):

  1. ASSUMPTION OF RISKS

I am aware that my use of the premises, and my participation in the activities thereon involves risks, dangers and hazards with potential for personal injury, property loss or damage arising from, but not limited to: exposure to natural occurrences and wildlife, use and/or failure of any, or all, grounds (which are uneven and present tripping hazards) and buildings, watercraft (including those owned and operated by the releasees), playground equipment, inflatable fun park, fire, theft, weather, the negligence of third parties and ANY NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF THE RELEASEES OF ANY SORT WHATSOEVER.

2. RELEASE AND WAIVER OF CLAIM

I WAIVE ANY AND ALL claims I may now, and in the future, have against, and release and discharge from all liability, and agree not to sue, ‘the Releasees’, with respect to any and all liability, costs (including legal costs), claims, damages, demands, actions and causes of action of whatever kind which might arise from or in physical injury, illness, death, property damage, loss of personal freedom or financial loss or other loss suffered by me or any other family members or dependants, arising, directly or indirectly, from my participation in all activities at ‘the resort’.   

3. INDEMNITY

I AGREE to hold harmless and to indemnify ‘the Releasees’ for any and all claims made against any of ‘the Releasees’ by any person, including any claim or action by, or on behalf of, my spouse or dependants (present or future), for damages suffered or costs incurred arising out of, or related to, any aspect of my stay on the ‘premises’ or participation in ‘activities’ on the ‘premises’, including, without limitation, any of the matters described or contemplated at item 2 above.

5. JURISDICTION

I AGREE that this Agreement shall be governed in all respects by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Province of British Columbia.

6. UNDERSTANDING

I DECLARE that I fully understand the terms of this Agreement and that I have not been influenced by any representations or statements made by or on behalf of Martens Resort Ltd. not recorded herein.

I CONFIRM THAT I am the full age of 19 years and I have read and understood this Agreement, as have all other people in my reservation, prior to signing it and I agree that the legal rights and obligations under this Agreement will be binding upon myself and all people in my reservation, our heirs, next-of-kin, executors, administrators and successors. I am aware that by signing this Agreement I/We am/are releasing and waiving certain legal rights, including the right to sue and to be awarded potentially substantial damages, which I/We or my/our heirs, next-of-kin, executors, administrators and assigns have or may have against the Releasees.
