Campground Policies:

Check In/Out

You are welcome to Check In after 1:00 pm AST (if available), and we guarantee the site to be ready by 3:00 pm AST. Check Out is 11:00 am AST. Please see us if you’d like to extend your stay. You must arrive BEFORE 9:00 pm ATLANTIC TIME in order to Check In. To preserve the quiet enjoyment of the park for ALL guests, check-ins past 9:00 pm ATLANTIC time will NOT be permitted. Please remember, if travelling to us from the US or Quebec, your clocks will move ahead one hour upon your arrival into New Brunswick.

Accessibility

We make every effort to make your stay as family-friendly and enjoyable as possible. Please let us know if we can assist you in any way. All information regarding planned and unplanned events/occurrences will be posted at the office, recreation centre, laundromat and all washrooms.

Site Cleanliness

Please leave your site as you found it. We work hard to ensure your site is clean prior to your arrival, and we ask you to do the same for the next guest. Leaving your garbage in the firepit before you leave is rude and unappreciated by the next guest. Please clean up after yourself and deposit your garbage in the trash cans near the exit. If you notice an issue with your site upon your arrival, please notify us immediately. Please, NO MATS on the grass during July and August.

Grass

We are extremely proud of our grass and we would appreciate your help in keeping our lawns enjoyable for use all season long. You can help us by not parking on the site grass - tent sites excluded (overflow parking is available); by not dragging the picnic tables over the grass (please see us if you need assistance lifting and moving your picnic table), by not moving the fire pits, and by not using your mats during the months of July and August, or at anytime during a dry/hot spell. Thank you for your cooperation.

Garbage/Recycling

We are a recycling park and we expect all guests to recycle as well. Throwing recyclables in the garbage is irresponsible, bad for the environment and unnecessarily fills up our garbage bins. Garbage and recycling containers are located near the exit, across from the Dump Station. You are responsible to remove all garbage/recycling from your site upon checkout. Please do not place campsite garbage/recycling in the office, recreation centre, laundromat, or washrooms - it attracts critters.

Laundry

Laundry facilities are located between the men's and ladies washrooms and are available 24 hours a day. Nothing is to be tied to the trees in the campground, and as such, clotheslines are NOT permitted. Change is available at the office/store during their open hours. Please ensure the laundry room door is closed when you leave.

Campfires

Each campsite includes a fire pit and picnic table, which are to remain on the site. If you need an additional picnic table, please see us - do not remove the picnic tables from neighboring sites without prior approval from the office. Fire pits are NOT to be relocated (charges may apply if damage is done to the grass). Campfires must be kept low and manageable. Please extinguish your campfire completely before leaving your site or retiring for the evening. Do NOT burn garbage in your fire pit.

Wood

Wood can be delivered to your site. Outside firewood is not permitted in the campground. Cutting, defacing (including stripping bark from the birch trees) or nailing/screwing into a tree at the campground is prohibited. Dead wood from our treed areas is not to be removed and burned. Please do NOT chop wood on the grass! Please chop wood on the site driveway or roadway only (charges may apply if damage is done to the grass).

Pets

We welcome your family pets - however, we must insist that they are kept on a leash, they are family-friendly, you clean up after them, and barking is kept to a minimum. Pets are not permitted in the pool, pool enclosure, laundromat, or washrooms. Pets are not to be left unattended for any length of time inside or outside of your camping unit. Please deposit pet waste in the garbage bins near the exit. Do NOT put pet waste in the bathroom garbage cans. Please see us regarding service animals. PLEASE, NO PET WASTE IN THE WASHROOM GARBAGE CANS. All pet waste is to be disposed of in the garbage bins located near the exit.

Children

Children are the responsibility of their adults and must be properly supervised at all times - especially around campfires, cooking stoves/BBQs, the playground, the river and the pool. BIKE HELMETS MUST BE WORN BY CHILDREN UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE. Bicycles are not permitted to be ridden after dark. To maintain the quiet enjoyment in the park for all, children under 18 years of age must return to their site by 9:00 pm ATLANTIC time.

Pool

The pool is open daily from 10:00 am AST until sundown, weather permitting. Children under 12 years of age must be supervised by an adult no younger than 18 years of age. Adult swim is from 3:00 pm til 5:00 pm DAILY. Children under 18 years of age will not be permitted inside the pool enclosure during this time. The pool may be closed at any time to ensure the health and safety of all guests. No glassware is permitted in the pool enclosure. Please use a tumbler or reusable cup inside the pool enclosure. Although we allow picnicking inside the pool enclosure, food is not to be consumed while in the pool. Smoking/vaping is not allowed inside the pool enclosure. The pool is to be used at your own risk - there is no lifeguard. Please note: there is no vehicle parking at the pool. Please let us know if you require assistance to and from the pool area. The maximum bather load in the pool at any time is 25 people.

Swimming / Fishing / Boat Dock

The dock is for the enjoyment of all guests, therefore, we do not allow bicycles or scooters on the dock. Fishing is permitted from the dock, however, please ensure your hooks and other fishing equipment are not left where others could trip or step on them. The St. John river system has Striped Bass, Musky, Smallmouth Bass, Rainbow Trout, Sturgeon and Chain Pickerel. All anglers 16 years of age or older are required to be licensed by the Province to fish any inland waters in New Brunswick. PLEASE DO NOT "SURF" OR JUMP UP AND DOWN ON THE FLOATING DOCK. Please see the Office if you wish to moor your boat to the dock (charges may apply). The dock is to be used at your own risk -there is no lifeguard.

One picnic table and one fire pit is provided and to remain on site. Fireworks are not permitted on your site. Fireworks are permitted (with prior permission from the office) at the river’s edge ONLY.

Visitors

Sunset View Campground is not a day-use park, therefore Visitors who are not visiting registered campers are not permitted. If you are a registered camper and you wish to have visitors, they must stop at the gate, register themselves at the Office, and pay $5/person (may be higher on Long Weekends, Concert Weekends, or Special Event Weekends). Remember, your site has a maximum occupancy of 6 people - including the registered campers. Visitors must leave by 9:00pm. Unregistered visitors, or visitors who exceed the 6 person per site maximum, will be asked to leave. Thank you for your understanding.

Smoking/Vaping

We are a non-smoking campground. For the enjoyment of all, you are only permitted to smoke/vape on your site. Please do not cause or permit any unusual or objectionable odours to emanate from your site (cannabis included).

Campground Etiquette

We are a family-friendly campground and want all of our guests to have an enjoyable time. Unruly parties, or profane language, will not be tolerated. We recognize, and respect, some campers’ wishes to have a good time can include noisy gatherings, we just ask that you are considerate of those around you to not disturb their quiet enjoyment of the campground as well. Drinking to obnoxious intoxication, or the use of illegal drugs, will result in immediate removal from the campground. Quiet time is from 10 pm AST to 8 am AST.

Respect your neighbours - do NOT walk through other campsites and keep all items on your site.

While using your air conditioner in your trailer/RV, all windows and doors must remain closed.

Our campground is a safe-space and abusive language or conduct towards any employee or guest is not permitted. Please discuss any concerns with our management team in a respectful manner.

Maintenance and Security

Should you note something that requires our attention, please see us at the office immediately. Any issues brought to our attention after departure will not be considered for compensation. If you have an emergency, please call 911 and have someone notify us at the office so that we may assist. Our address is 45 Hawkshaw Road, Hawkshaw, NB, E6G1N8.

Sorry, we do not allow motorized ATVs, side-by-sides, dirt bikes or gas-powered golf-carts to be operated in the campground. E-bikes are permitted, however, must adhere to our posted speed limits.

ABSOLUTELY NO CHARGING OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES. It is essential to understand that EVs require CONSTANT electricity flow to charge their batteries, and the electrical pedestals do not have this capability. Our electrical pedestals were designed for non-continuous loads typical of today's RV usage, and therefore simply cannot support EV charging. Plugging your EV into a traditional 50/30 amp campground pedestal could permanently damage your vehicle as well as the campground electrical system. If a charging converter was provided by your auto manufacturer, it does not change the way electricity flows within the campground's electrical infrastructure and should not be used to connect your EV to our campground pedestals. CHARGING YOUR EV AT OUR CAMPGROUND WILL RESULT IN A $250 CHARGE ON YOUR ACCOUNT AND WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE REMOVAL FROM THE PARK WITHOUT REFUND. Sorry, we are just not willing to risk damaging the campground's electrical system. The nearest EV Charging Stations to our campground are located here: Eastbound from here - Petro-Canada, 28 kms at exit #253 or Westbound from here - Irving, 45 kms at exit #191.

For after-hours emergencies/concerns, please call 506-575-2592.
