Terms of Service

To all those renting facilities at The Odd Fellow and Rebekah Tall Oaks Camp, the following camp rules and information is provided.

Check-In Time: After 3 p.m.  

Check-Out Time: Check-Out Time: Noon for cabins, 1:00 p.m for RV/tent sites. Extended times may be possible.  Check with a Camp Host on arrival for availability.

Camp Sign-in: All family members over the age of 18 must be registered at the time of on-site Check-in. 

One family unit per campsite.  As per State of Michigan Law, there is a maximum of 8 persons per campsite.  Cabins differ based on occupancy limits.  Children under the age of 18 must be under adult supervision at all times. 

Cancellation policy and refunds: All rental fees paid will be refunded if the reservation is canceled at least 30 days before the arrival date.  If the reservation is canceled 30-8 days before the reserved date, 1/2 of the rental fees collected will be forfeited.  No refund for cancellations if within 7 days before the reservation date.  No refunds due to weather, change of plans, or early departures.  

Repair/Cleaning Fees: Facilities are to be left as they are found upon arrival.  Should Camp Management find the facilities used in unacceptable condition, repair or cleaning fees of a minimal of $50 will automatically be charged to the credit card on file.  If more than $50 worth of damage or filth to clean up then you will be contacted before the appropriate charge. 

Returned check fee: There is a $50.00 per check fee for all returned checks.

Vehicles: A maximum of two (2) vehicles per campsite or cabin at any time.  

Visitors of Camping Guests: Visitors must sign in upon arrival.  There is a $5 per vehicle Visitor Fee.  All visitors must leave by 10:00 p.m.   All other camp rules apply to visitors as they do guests.

Quiet hours:  11:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m..  Please observe camper courtesy 24 hours a day.  Please no loud music, profanity, or abusive language.  Violators may be asked to leave.   

Playground: Playground and sports areas are available for use.  Riding bikes after dusk is prohibited for safety reasons.

General campsite/cabin rules: Please be considerate of your neighbor.  Walk around other campsites/cabin campfire areas and not through them.  Keep your campsite tidy – use trash bags or receptacles that can be stored securely at night, neatly store any chairs, bikes, toys, dog ropes or chains, etc. in your campsite.  This is for safety as well as for maintaining a welcoming campground.  Alcohol can be used in moderation at your campsite, with age adults.  We are a family camp, therefore if you become intoxicated and get loud or act inappropriately you will be asked to leave.  No drugs allowed.

Day Pass: is available to those wishing to use the camp for just a day but are not visiting a paying guest.  The cost is $25 per vehicle or family and would be available from 8:00 am until 10:00 pm.  All public camp facilities (restroom/showers, beach and watercraft, picnic area on the beach and by the playground, ) are available for use and subject to the rules and regulations listed within this agreement. 

Waterfront:  Swim at your own risk. There will not be a lifeguard on duty.  An adult must be present and supervise children under the age of 18 at all times.  The Camp will not be responsible for any damage to personal boats docked on our property. 

Boat Docking: Docking space is limited and is available on a 1st come 1st serve basis. 

Maintenance: Please report any problems or damages in any facilities found on the day of check-in to the facility manager.  If not reported, it will be assumed the damage or loss occurred during rental occupancy and reasonable charges will be made.  When maintenance needs arise during the rental stay, contact the Facility Manager. It may be necessary for the Facility Manager to enter the cabin during reasonable hours to perform minor repairs.

Smoking: There is no smoking allowed in any camp buildings.  Properly dispose of cigarette butts.  DO NOT throw them on the ground.

Pets:  There is a maximum of 2 quiet pets allowed per site.  The pet’s owner is responsible for the care and management of the pet while staying at the campgrounds. Owners must secure their dogs on leashes or other means at all times when outside of rental units or campers/RVs.   Dogs over six months must be registered and wear a collar with tags at all times.  Dogs are not allowed in the dining hall unless a certified leader dog or an emotional support animal with documentation from a licensed professional.  Owners must clean up all solid waste of the pet and properly dispose of it in plastic trash bags into the trash dumpster. If your pet is being a disturbance to other guests you may be asked to leave.

Campfires: A fire barrel or fire pit must be used for any campfires.    Firewood is for sale from the Facility Manager for $5/ crate or $20.00 a load (equal to about 5 crates). No wood can be brought into the campgrounds  -this is per DNR regulations to help limit the spread the bugs and diseases.  We enforce all local burn bans. 

Necessities for cabins: if renting cabins, renters must bring their bedding, towels, pillows, and personal products.  There is a 1 day's supply of hand soap, toilet paper, paper towels, and trash bags.  Any additional supplies that are needed must be brought or purchased by the renter. 

Refrigerators/Microwaves/Coffee pots:  All appliances, dishes, utensils, etc that were used must be cleaned before departure and items returned where found.

Dining Hall/Kitchen:  Rental includes the use of the kitchen facilities.  NOTE:  Dining hall & Kitchen must be left in the same condition as when you came or a $200 cleaning fee will be assessed. 

Camp store / Ice: There are limited supplies, snacks, and beverages available at the camp store.  Bagged ice is also available for sale at $2.00 per 8# bag.

Camp Sports and Water Equipment:  Canoes, kayaks, and life preservers are available for use by renters.  Other sports equipment is available for use; the Facility Manager can advise where the available sports and water equipment is located for use.  Renters are responsible to return the items undamaged and if any damage occurs, it should be discussed with the Facility Manager.  Michigan laws require wearing a life preserver while in a canoe or kayak.  All children under 6 years of age must wear a US Coast Guard approved type 1 or 2 life jacket (most have a pillow for the head) when in an open vessel which includes a kayak and canoe.  All our kayaks are a 1 person vessels. 

Big Star Lake Association Boating Rules: Between the hours of 7:30 p.m. and 11:00 a.m. it is unlawful to operate a vessel at high speed, commonly referred to as no-wake time, This is enforced by the DNR. 

Fireworks:  All Michigan laws for dates and times must be observed.

Quiet hours:  11:00 p.m.  Please always be respectful to your fellow campers. 

Speed limit:  Please observe a 5 mph or less speed limit while operating any motor vehicle on the campgrounds at all times for the safety of all our guests, especially our children. 

Electric Vehicles:  NO charging electric vehicles using power sources.  

Golf Carts / ATVs etc are permitted as long as the speed limits and quiet hours are observed.  Lake County has many public ORV trails!

Trash: Upon departure and during your stay, please deposit bagged trash into the large blue dumpster near the dump station

A dump station is free for guests to use.  If not a renter a $10 fee will be charged to use our dump station. 

Emergencies:  In case of severe weather Camp staff will make every effort to notify guests.  The campground bathhouse and other block construction rooms on the property are available for protection. 

In case of an Emergency call 911.  Our address is 7153 S. Rebecca Road Baldwin MI 49304.  (S Rebecca Rd dead ends into our camp!) 

The closest hospital is in Reed City.  The address is 300 N Patterson Rd. Reed City Mi 49677  (about 26 miles away)

Directions: Please note!  Most GPS systems will turn you south onto S Rebecca Road and will tell you that you have arrived.  This camp has been here since prior to us owning it in 1937.  Most homes/cabins were built after we were already here.  So our address is out of order.  Turn south onto S. Rebecca road and follow it to the end.  Our driveway is on the right side at the end of the road.

LIABILITY STATEMENT

The Odd Fellow and Rebekah Tall Oaks Camp is privately owned and operated.  The renter accepts renting privileges with the understanding that he/she does hereby release Odd Fellow and Rebekah Camp of Michigan, the officers/directors, and employees of all liability for loss or damage to property and injury, against claims resulting from loss or damage to property or injury to the person of any member of the family or guest of the registered renters arising out of the use of the camp facilities. Renters agree to abide by the rules posted here and at Camp.
