OTHER POLICIES
The guest assumes all risks and danger incidental to the activity of camping in a rustic outdoors environment, including specifically (but not exclusively) the danger of being injured by insects or other animals, of being injured while participating in recreational activities, such as hiking, swimming or boating at the Town of Virgil Hope Lake Park or of being injured as a result of inclement weather conditions, and agrees that Greek Peak Holdings, LLC, its owners, agents, employees and the Town of Virgil are not liable for injuries or property damages resulting from such causes.
In the event of inclement weather, representatives of Greek Peak Holdings, LLC will make a good faith effort to communicate severe weather notices to guests via text message for guests who have opted into the service, however, guests retain the responsibility for their own safety. Guests should carefully monitor changing weather conditions to protect themselves and their property and are responsible for evacuating when necessary.
Thunderstorms: In the event of a thunderstorm, all outdoor attractions at Greek Peak Mountain Resort will shut down and cleared at the first sign of thunder or lightning. Operations will not resume until 20-30 minutes after the last observed thunder or lightning event, at manager discretion. Guests of the campground should seek shelter in their camper, the bath house, lodge, or other open resort building.
Tornados: In the event of a Tornado Watch, guests should prepare for a Tornado Warning. Greek Peak Holdings, LLC recommends guests protect their campsite and possessions by putting away all loose items that may be carried away by wind, such as tables, chairs, or camp stoves. Greek Peak Holdings, LLC recommends pulling in all slides and awnings on your RV to prevent the wind from catching and flipping your vehicle.
Evacuation is recommended as follows:
Hope Lake Lodge is designated as the optimal evacuation site for Campground guests. The lodge is approximately two minutes away from the Campground by vehicle, or up to fifteen minutes away from the Campground by foot. Therefore, it is recommended that Campground guests evacuate upon the issuance of a Tornado Watch, rather than wait for a possible issuance of a Tornado Warning. Once at the lodge, the Campground Guest should follow the directions of the Front Desk Staff.
If the guest cannot make it to the lodge, they should proceed to the nearest permanent structure, either the Campground Bathhouse or the Adventure Center. Greek Peak Holdings, LLC recommends finding a low-level, interior room, staying away from doors or windows.
If a Tornado warning is issued, guests should proceed to the nearest permanent structure with urgency. Guests should not exit their shelter until the storm has passed, unless their immediate location becomes unsafe.
Flooding: If a flood watch is issued guests should take action to protect their possessions by putting away all loose items which might be affected by flood waters. Guests may elect to evacuate their vehicles, trailers, and campers at their own discretion.
If a flood warning is issued, guests should strongly consider evacuating with their vehicles, trailers, campers, and all other belongings. Special consideration is made for the Forest and Stream sites as these border a creek. Evacuation to Hope Lake Lodge is encouraged if risk of injury or loss of life is suspected.
