Hummingbird Lodge & Campground

Your site # is subject to change prior to arrival unless a site lock fee was paid during the time of booking.

Check in begins at 3pm, Check out must be completed by 11am.

  • Check out time is at 11:00am. Unauthorized late check outs will result in a 'late fee' of 1 night accommodation plus tax.

  • Check in time is after 3:00pm for Forest and RV sites.

Reservations:

We recommend making your reservation in advance to ensure your preferred dates.  All reservations require full payment at time of booking to confirm. The site is to be occupied only by the registered guests. Subletting of RV or site is not permitted. .

As we strive to keep the campground and resort looking pristine and the atmosphere comfortable for all guests, we ask that you abide by the following rules: 

Alcohol: 

Please keep all alcohol out of parking lot area and enclosed in your campers or Tenting(summer) campsites. No outside alcohol is allowed on the Hummingbird lodge patio or in the parking lots. 

Maximum Resort Speed:

The speed limit is 10 km/hr throughout the property. There are a lot of young children and pets, so please be very careful.

Quiet time:

Quiet time is from 10pm-7am daily. Please respect your neighbours and other guests by not playing loud music or talking loudly past this time. Please use consideration when using sound systems during the day as well.

Generators:

Generators are permitted to be used in our camping sites from 9-11am and 6-8pm daily.

Use of Communal Facilities:

Use of the communal facilities - dishwashing area, washrooms, showers - is only for these purposes. Gathering and/or sleeping in this area is not permitted. Leaving any items in this area overnight is at your own risk.

RV Sites: 

Each RV site is designated for one RV and one vehicle, up to a maximum of two vehicles if they fit within your specific site, not encroaching on the resort road or your neighbour’s site.

Extra Vehicles: Each RV Site includes parking for a tow vehicle and one other vehicle. Should you or your guests require parking for additional vehicles, they are to be parked in appropriate spaces in the parking lot outside of the Hummingbird Lodge. 

Pets: 

We welcome your well-behaved four-legged friends in the RV and Forest Sites. Pets are not permitted in the 2-Bedroom Suite.

Please pick up all pet droppings. Small bags are provided at dispensers throughout the resort, including at the garbage stations next to forest site 15, and RV site 5. Once used, please dispose of these as garbage, do not leave them in the brush. The site holder is responsible for the behaviour of their pets and for picking up after them. Please do not leave pets on your site unattended.

All pets are to remain on-leash at all times by the Hummingbird Lodge and RV Campground.

Garbage / Tidiness: 

Please help us keep our Resort clean!

Garbage bins are located at several locations around the campground.

Winter:

RV Sites: one garbage station next to the maintenance shed by RV site 10. Additional garbage and recycling in communal dishwashing area.

Recycling and refundable bins are located at the following locations:

 

RV Sites/Hummingbird Lodge: one recycling/refundable station next to the Nordic Hut by RV site 10, and one inside the communal dishwashing space and washrooms.

Please place all garbage into garbage bags and tie securely before placing them in the dumpsters. Please do not litter cigarette butts on the ground or in the fire pits. Notice: We have many bears and other wildlife in the area. Secure all attractants by disposing of them before the end of day.

Guests are responsible for the tidiness of their site. Non-compliance may result in being asked to leave. Guests are expected to leave their site clean upon departure. Failure to do so may result in additional fees being charged for additional clean-up and/or repair.

 

SUMMER CAMPING INFO

Forest Sites:

Our forest sites have varying capacities for vehicle type and access; please make sure you select a site that meets your needs.

Parking for your vehicle at your site is not guaranteed, although it is possible to drive up alongside all sites to allow for drop-off of equipment. Forest sites 1, 2, 3, 5, & 15 have capacity for a small van or camper up to 18' to park within the site. Forest sites 4, 6, & 9 have capacity for a vehicle to park adjacent to the site, though there may be steps between your parking spot and the site. Forest sites 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, & 14 only have drop-off capacity and will be walk-in only sites (some of these sites have steps up to them or a steep entry ramp).

Overflow parking for forest campsites is available at the entrance to the forest campground.

Campfires: 

In summer and fall, campfires are permitted in the designated fire pits provided at your site. They must be attended at all times and flames must not exceed the fire ring. DO NOT burn scrap wood, treated wood, construction wood, nails, or garbage. Campfires must be contained to your designated firepit and must not exceed 0.5m x 0.5m in size. Do not leave the fire unattended at any time and always fully extinguish your campfire with plenty of water before leaving your campsite/going to bed.

In the event of a campfire ban, charcoal briquette stoves and propane fires may be permitted. Please ensure your BBQ and/or fire pit are a minimum distance away from the vegetation so it does not get burnt. Please do not put cigarette butts, cans, or garbage of any sort in the fire pits. Firewood is sold by the bundle at the Hummingbird Lodge office. We will be happy to deliver it to your site. Do not cut or remove firewood from other sites or areas of the Resort as it is prohibited.

Fire Pits: 

Fire pits are provided at your site over summer and fall, and are not to be moved without Campground Crew approval and assistance. A charge will be applied for unauthorised moves and subsequent cleaning.

Picnic Tables:

Picnic tables are provided at your site over summer and fall, please do not put portable BBQs on the picnic tables without heat/grease protection underneath them. It is asked that you not pile firewood or other rough items on the tables.

Trees & Landscaping:

Please ensure your BBQ and fire pit are a safe distance away from vegetation.

Cutting or removal of wood within the resort is prohibited.

Additional: one garbage station at the Whitewater Ski Resort Day Lodge.

Minors:

Campers under the age of 16 are not permitted to book a campsite without a parent or guardian present for the stay.

Parents and guardians are responsible for the safety and supervision of their children. 

Infants under 1 year old are free of charge and do not need to be included in the number of children on the reservation.

Smoking: 

Please be very careful with cigarette ashes and always dispose of butts in appropriate containers. The ground can be very dry here during the summer months and fire hazards can be extreme. Please do not put butts in the fire pits or on the ground. For the comfort of all guests please take note of signage around the resort where smoking is prohibited.

Alcoholic Beverages: 

Please drink responsibly. Open alcoholic beverages are not permitted outside your site. Only alcohol purchased at the cafe can be consumed on the patio of the cafe. 

Profanity:

Profanity, abusive or loud language and other objectionable or disturbing behaviour will not be tolerated.

Visitors: 

Registered guests entertaining visitors will be responsible for their guests’ behaviour and responsible for any damage incurred. 

Guests in Forest Sites: Each reservation is based on an occupancy of 4. Any additional guests are at the discretion of the campsite and are to be registered at the office and subject to an additional charge of $7/guest.

Guests in RV Sites: Each reservation is based on an occupancy of 8. No additional guests are possible for these sites.

RV / Vehicle Washing / Mechanical Repairs:  

This is not allowed within the RV Resort area.

Liability: 

All guests are responsible for their security on the site and the security of their belongings. The Hummingbird Lodge and Campground is not responsible for the loss or damage of personal property. All facilities are used by guests at their own risk.

Firearms / Fireworks: 

The display or use of firearms and fireworks is strictly prohibited.

Wildlife: 

Please do not feed any wildlife within the resort; this includes the use of bird feeders. Secure all food and food waste in a locked vehicle, hard-sided trailer, bear-proof canister or locker. Bear bins are available for use adjacent to Forest Site heated washrooms. Dispose of garbage and recycling in designated receptacles or pack it out with food waste. Do not bring scented toiletries and candles, perfumes, or any other personal items with a scent. Avoid leaving out attractants, such as garbage, food, and unattended pets.

Food cannot be left out on your campsite when you are away from it and/or overnight. It attracts bears and will result in a $250 fine from conservation officers if deemed an attractant.

Relocation: 

The Hummingbird Lodge and Campground reserves the right to relocate guests to best serve the needs of all guests and the business. In the event that Whitewater is expecting heavy snowfall, we may require you to move to a different site periodically to allow for proper snow removal and ensure the best guest experience.

The Hummingbird Lodge and Campground reserves the right to require any guest or visitor to leave if they do not comply with the above mentioned Rules & Regulations, cause a disturbance, or are abusive to staff or other guests.

Notice to All Users of These Premises and Facilities - Exclusion of Liability

Assumption of risk - Jurisdiction.

Please Read Carefully!

These conditions will affect your legal rights including the right to sue the operator for negligence, breach of contract or breach of the occupiers liability act or to claim compensation following an accident.

Your use of these premises and facilities and participation in activities on the premises involves various risks, dangers, and hazards. Please visit the Safety and Risk Awareness website at www.skisafety.ca for a description of these risks, dangers, and hazards. A description of these risks, dangers, and hazards is also available at Guest Services.

As a condition of your use of the premises and facilities and your participation in activities on the premises, you assume all risk of personal injury, death or property loss resulting from any cause whatsoever including NEGLIGENCE, BREACH OF CONTRACT OR BREACH OF ANY DUTY OF CARE OWED UNDER THE OCCUPIERS LIABILITY ACT ON THE PART OF THE OPERATOR OF THE PREMISES AND FACILITIES, and it’s employees and representatives (hereinafter collectively referred to as “the Operator”)

  • You agree that the Operator shall not be liable for any personal injury, death or property loss and release the operator from all liability and waive all claims with respect thereto
  • Negligence includes failure on the part of the Operator to take reasonable steps to safeguard or protect you from or warn of the risks, dangers and hazards referred above .
  • Any litigation involving the Operator shall be brought solely within British Columbia and shall be within the exclusive jurisdiction of the British Columbia Court .
  • These conditions and any rights, duties and obligations involving the Operator shall be governed by and interpreted solely in accordance with the laws of British Columbia and no other jurisdiction.

THE OPERATOR’S LIABILITY FOR NEGLIGENCE, BREACH OF CONTRACT OR BREACH OF OCCUPIERS LIABILITY ACT IS EXCLUDED BY THESE CONDITIONS. ANY LITIGATION INVOLVING THE OPERATOR SHALL BE BROUGHT SOLELY WITHIN BRITISH COLUMBIA AND SHALL BE WITHIN THE EXCLUSIVE JURISDICTION OF THE BRITISH COLUMBIA COURT

Management shall not be held liable or responsible for non-utilization of package components or loss of recreational opportunities due to weather or any other circumstances beyond our control.

The Hummingbird Lodge and Campground or its management bears no responsibility for any loss or damage to any person or property or thing, howsoever caused.

 

The fine print

By accepting this reservation, you (hereinafter referred to as the “Guest”) hereby waive, release, discharge, and agree not to sue WHITEWATER SKI RESORT LTD., KNEE DEEP DEVELOPMENTS CORPORATION, & 1054686 ALBERTA LTD. and their respective directors, officers, employees, instructors, agents, representatives, volunteers, independent contractors, subcontractors, sponsors, successors and assigns (hereinafter collectively referred to as the “Releasees”) for all claims and liability for personal injury, accidents, property damage, any other claim arising out of or in connection with the Guest’s use of the Rental/Property.

Further, the Guest agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Releasees from all losses, claims, expenses and demands, including attorneys’ fees, that the Hummingbird Lodge & Campground at Whitewater Ski Resort may incur arising out of or in connection with the Guest’s use of the Rental/Property. The Guest further agrees to be responsible and liable for the actions and safety of every person in their group.
