Summer in the Village
May 16 - August 15
Join the VCPRD every third Saturday of the month May through August from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. for our Summer in the Village! Our cabin caretakers will open up their cabins for all to explore and demonstrate early 19th century skills and crafts. Each month will have a focus on a different craft or demonstration for you to learn! May's focus will be on gardening, come out to plant the village garden with our volunteers and learn more about gardening at your own home. May 16, June 20, July 18, August 15

Blacksmithing Classes
May 16 - October 17
Check out our Blacksmithing classes at Fowler Park! Work with experienced blacksmiths to learn how to operate a blacksmith forge, understand the parts of an anvil, and the uses for various hand tools in the blacksmith shop. Each participant will shape metal using learned techniques include forging a curve, twist, point, square – octagon – round taper, cutting stock, heating techniques, and fire management. Participants must wear nonsynthetic clothing for this class. All materials, equipment and lunch will be provided.
