The Easter Bunny is hopping this way to Sun Outdoors Chincoteague Bay for opening weekend. Crafts, egg hunts, and fun times are in store, all weekend long!

Spring Roundup
April 5 - April 6
Planning on attending the Spring Roundup? Stay with us and experience the best homebase for fun and good times. On April 5th and 6th, the wild ponies of Assateague Island will be corralled for vetting and other checkups. Do not miss the opportunity to see the famous Riptide and all the bands corralled between the Northern and Southern corrals. The Southern Herd Roundup and vet checks will begin at 4:30 pm at the Southern Corral. There will be plenty of parking nearby, so get there early to see Riptide, Legacy, or Twist come in with their bands and hopefully some foals. The Northern Herd Roundup will start around 6 am and requires a hike of about 3 miles to the Northern corral. Typically, it takes a few hours to complete.

NASA Rocket Launch & Total Solar Eclipse

Planning on attending the Wallops Flight Facility’s Rocket Launch? Stay with us and experience the best homebase for fun and good times. On April 8, 2024, during the total solar eclipse, three sounding rockets will launch from Wallops Island as part of the Apophis (APEP) mission. The views from Sun Outdoors Chincoteague Bay are out of this world… literally! 🪐 From the campground, views of NASA Wallops Flight Facility’s Launch Pad are spectacular. Meet fellow campers at the bayfront promenade and enjoy some of the BEST seats of rocket launches at NASA Wallops Flight Facility. 🚀🛰 Details on Launch: Mission: Apophis 2 (APEP 2) Vehicle: 3 Black Brant IX sounding rockets Date: April 8, 2024 Time: 2:40 p.m.- 4:05 p.m. EDT. Rockets are scheduled to launch approximately 45 minutes apart. Location: Wallops Flight Facility, Virginia To ensure there are the best conditions possible for a launch, all dates are subject to change.
