Dower Lake Recreation Area

Following are the basic rules for the Dower Lake Campground.  We agree to abide by these terms and another other State or Local laws. 

  • Through traffic is not allowed in the camping area.
  • Motorized vehicles are only allowed on designated trails.
  • Electrical & Rustic Sites - Maximum of 2 tents OR 1 RV and 1 tent per site.
  • Seasonal Sites - 1 RV Only. No tents.
  • Park Quiet Hours are 10 pm – 7 am, including generators.
  • Disorderly and noisy conduct is prohibited.
  • Fires allowed in designated fireplaces ONLY.
  • No burning of trash in fireplaces.
  • Please use trash receptacles.
  • No horses or unleashed pets.
  • No fireworks are allowed.
  • It is unlawful for any person to possess explosives of any kind. It is also against the law for any person to possess a firearm (including an air gun) unless the firearm is unloaded and completely contained in a fully enclosed gun case or unloaded and contained in the closed trunk of a vehicle. A person who is legally permitted under MS 624.714 to carry a handgun in the State of Minnesota may legally carry that handgun in state parks.
  • Check-in is at 1pm and check-out is 11am

Cancellation Policy

Routine Cancellations made 10 days or more prior to the scheduled arrival date will result in refund equal to the amount already paid minus one night's fee + the $2 reservation fee. If less then 10 days or more then 2 days prior to the scheduled arrival date a 50% refund will be issued. If 2 days or less no refund will be issued.

In the event of a patron emergency which requires them to leave early or cancel the stay, regardless of the emergency, a "full refund" will NOT be issued.

Problems within the Park that would prevent a camper from use of the campsite such as flooding may result in a "full refund."

Refund Policy

Refunds by checks are processed by the Finance Department and must be approved by the City Council. This process may take up to three weeks to process. 

No refunds will be issued for cancellations made after 10 AM on the day after the scheduled date of arrival.

No refunds will be issued if swimming area of campground is closed.

Early departures (“Early Outs”) occur when a patron leaves the park prior to the end of the reservation period. There will not be a refund for early departures.

Site Transfers - No refunds will be issued for lesser valued site transfers requested by Campers. If the Park Host requests the transfer then vendor request form needs to be completed by the Park Director.

Please maintain social distance and clean up after yourself in the showerhouse and bathrooms.
