I booked & paid for a premium site for a Saturday night. I arrived at the office at 3 pm to find it locked and no one around. There was no packet for me in the outside rack. I called the phone number on my campspot reservation. The person who answered the phone was not on site, but looked up my name and gave me my four digit site number. The 1st problem is the sites are marked by street name and a two digit number. After searching in vain for a half hour I finally found a group of residents that were very helpful. One of them contacted a maintenance man who was able to decode site 3320 to Flounder St. site 8. 2nd problem: this site is Not a premium site like I was charged for, so I had to squeeze my 41 ft Class into a regular small site. I do want to clarify that all of the residents I met were friendly and went out of their way to try to be helpful.

We had a great stay at Buttonwood Bay. The facilities are very clean and nice. The snowbird residents friendly. There are a lot of activities for the retired residents to take part in at the resort and on the lake. Being at the lower end of the age demographic, we found ourselves going out and exploring more of the surrounding areas. There are state parks, wineries, distilleries, bars, & restaurants nearby, as well as downtown historic areas in Sebring and Lake Placid. Be aware that the park is very densely packed and is more like a sub-division than a campground. This did not cause us any problems but does mean that the only view is into your neighbor's lot. Nearly all the lots with any view are static homes. We had our dog with us, and the resort is very dog friendly. However, I did find that I had to clean up after other residents' dogs on several occasions, including the dog park and our site when we arrived. We stayed for 11 days and tend to do more short-term stays with our RV. Buttonwood Bay is more a snowbird longer-term resort. I would stay again because we love this area, but I would like to try other campsites in the area first.
