Captain Critters Country Campground — Reviews

The woman from the office was as sweet as she could be. The overall appearance of the campground was not as pleasant . Seemed To be a lot of permanent residents with huge gas tanks so they were going to be there awhile.

It was ok for a quick overnight. There was a small area to let your dogs roam off leash. There was free WiFi but it as really slow and I wound up just using my data. The caretaker was very friendly and helpful. There was bad weather coming and she reached out to let us know about it and what to do in case of tornado. There seemed to be a lot of full timers there who were settled in. The ones I saw were friendly. There was a train very close that startled me the first time I heard it but when I was asleep I didn’t wake because it.

Camp grounds were crushed rock. Limited grass. Adequate but not outstanding. All reviews mentioned the train horns. They weren’t kidding.

The noise from Trains woke me up during the night. I am not used to hearing them & I am a light sleeper. My husband is not, but some woke him up.

Very few amenities

I thought it was overpriced for just the basics. No shower house, wifi wasn't the best. Train is very close so we hard to hear it at all hours.

The camp owner was very helpful and accommodating. We had to extend our stay due to winter weather (high winds). She made sure we were in a spot that had a good wind break and close to the dog yard. This way we could minimize the discomfort of going to the park with our dogs in 30 mph gust winds and freezing temps.

While the owner was very nice this camp had way too many full timers with cars and stuff laying around. Our Camp site was to share a yard and the yard had 2 cars parked in it. Sites were also very small and we were squished in. I would not recommend nor will we stop there again …
