Catawba Falls Campground — Reviews

It was a beautiful river setting that we enjoyed very much, with a nice hiking trail within walking distance, clean shower facility, and dog friendly. The other campers we encountered were all very nice. Our only complaint was very a very poor cell signal for our entire stay. We were unable to get email, use laptops, or watch TV. While many campers won't find this a problem, beware if this is important to you. BTW, we have a Verizon hotspot and have never had this problem anywhere else.

We had a double wide site #24 which backs up to the river. We had a very nice stay there for a reasonable price. The only thing was the dollar bill changer was not working for the laundry, we called for service, talked to someone who said their brother or someone would be right there and no one ever came. No big deal but we had to go and get change in town. Also their mini store didn't seem to be open when we were there. Again, no big deal. There was no wifi available but our T Mobile service worked fine. A little too much tree cover for Starlink. You can walk to the waterfall from the campground, its only about 1/2 mile to the parking lot. Its generally quiet except for some random dogs barking during the day. Dump station was easy to use and has a water hose to use as well. We had no problem backing into our spot since there is a huge grass area you can pull into to straighten out and then back right in. Showers and bathrooms were nice and clean. I'd recommend bringing your own firewood as the firewood we found in town didn't burn well. Its really a beautiful mostly quiet place and the sound of the clean water stream will put you to sleep at night.

This location was great! However, there were several dogs on property which made it a little noisy. Also, the office is closed most of the week. I think it’s worth noting that most sites are for permanent residents.

Accommodations were very comfortable in a quiet setting. Management was very friendly and helpful. We opted for the “Magnolia”, which we used as our base camp while exploring the surrounding areas. Good, home cooked meals just down the street at Deb’s Diner was an added touch, as well as Catawba Falls Baptist church for Sunday worship. Great place to stay.

We had an amazing time at this campground! The staff was incredibly friendly, the scenery was beautiful, and the atmosphere was very family-friendly. Our kids especially enjoyed having access to the playground, which made the experience even more enjoyable for our family. It was the perfect place to relax, enjoy the outdoors, and make wonderful memories together. We truly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend this campground to other families. We look forward to coming back! 🏕️❤️

We tent camped and had a great time. The facilities are well maintained and it was great having electric access. Easy access to Catawba Falls. It was beautiful!

• Not far from the CG there's a brewery, BBQ, and bike park called Foothills Watershed. The pulled pork and chicken were delish. Sauces & sides were on point. • Picked up supplies from Dove's Mkt. about a 10 min drive into Old Fort. Waze still lists it as Frisbee's. * site 24 & 25 are extra wide sites with no sewer hookup. * bathroom was clean, had a bench and hooks. Stationary Shower head. Normal water pressure. * Leanient checkout Sat/ hiked one of several trails at old fort gateway trail system for hikers & bikers. Hiked some of catawba falls trail. Got dark and hit with steady drizzle. - walked the creek. Water was crystal clear and several pools were as deep as a bathtub to cool off in. * dump station and office are very close together presenting a tight squeeze in that area

Very quiet, relaxing

Other than the camp store not being staffed while we were there it was open on Monday and Tuesday by request. The bath house restroom was very nice. The site was extremely level and backed up to the Catawba River. Short drive to the falls area was a plus. Everything at the site worked well. Wasn’t navigate. I have a 24’ Mercedes sprinter 3500 built out by airstream and the site was spacious.

There is a reason we keep coming back. Nice, clean, quiet. Owners and their family are so nice.

This is a really nice campground in a beautiful setting. Cooling off in the stream was a highlight. The dude who let his dog run around off leash should have been dealt with but wasn't. I would definitely stay there again. The tent area is especially nice.

Lovely setting. Firewood available. Facilities were clean. THERE WERE FIREFLIES!

Quiet little campground on a creek with lots of shade. Staff were great. Dog-friendly, we stayed with 3 pups. The fresh coffee/espresso in the campstore was a plus! Cleanest campground bathrooms I've experienced. There's a new bridge next to tent sites and a porta-potty so you don't have to walk across the site. Wifi is almost non-existent if that's important to you. The water level was low due to drought but enough areas that pooled where we could cool down. One suggestion is to create barriers for campsites as the river sites were too close to one another.

Easy check in. Very clean bathrooms and showers. The grounds are well cared for. Nothing is falling apart. There is a wash sink and a clean portable bathroom at the far end for tenters. Bridges and fences are new. Quiet stream running through the grounds.
