We had an absolutely wonderful experience for our stay at Cedar to Surf.
****FYI*****leaving poor reviews for a campground because YOU don't want to respect the rules and the other campers peace, reflects poorly on YOU as a human being and perhaps you should reflect on that instead of trying to damage the reputation of a small business and sweet couple that is trying so hard to build a lovely getaway.****
Our stay started out with us coming in late. The communication with the staff was excellent, I reached out via email as we were traveling and ran into soooo many delays from road construction and traffic backups and we ended up getting in about 7:20 p.m. Al in the front office stayed late and popped out with a friendly smile and a wave as soon as we pulled up. She was very clear in her directions, and they were so kind as to cone off a spot for us to park our trailer after unloading our Harley.
The campsite itself was fine, we reserved one of the wider spots that backed up to a wooded area. There is a nice picnic table (the lifetime style, not a wooden or metal one, which is nice and easy to move) and the sites are pretty easy to tell the boundaries due to the layout of the hookups, plus the signs on the fence are easy to read.
The morning after we checked in we discovered our Harley had a dead battery and of course we left the battery charger at home. The owners, who are SO very helpful, offered us a charger to use, and then when it was not compatible, offered arrangements to get into town to Napa. That arrangement didn't work out, but at their recommendation, we were able to take the Pacific Transit bus (which is FREE!!!) into town, get what we needed and back to the campground. Very helpful and a great resource to have the bus running through the area.
The trail to the beach is lovely, it would be even nicer if people wouldn't leave their dogs poop bags scattered along the trail, but sadly, some people just have no decency and feel like they need to leave their messes for others to clean up. (Probably the same people who let their dogs poop in the campground and just left it. )
Facilities-wise, we did not use the rec room or clam/fish cleaning rooms, so I don't know how they are. The laundry is basic, again, did not use that facility so I don't have much to say about that.
We did use the bathrooms, which are also somewhat basic, they are a little dated and worn but they are nice and clean and you can tell they are trying to make them as nice as possible with what is there. The ladies has 2 stalls with toilets and a single shower, as well as 2 sinks. Hubby said the mens room has a urinal stall, a toilet stall, and a single shower as well.
The "communal" campfire pit near the rec room is nice, if that is your sorta thing, and they just finished another campfire pit near the entrance by the game field, which again, if that is your thing it is great. It's not for us so we did not use them.
The campground is not very large, so if you are looking for a place where your neighbors are far away, this might not be the right fit for you. It is not nearly as smooshed together as some of the rv parks we saw going thru town, but it is a cozy little place. We truly enjoyed our stay and I look forward to returning for another one.
We had our 3 large dogs with us, and the owners and other staff were very welcoming, and as long as your dogs aren't running free and barking incessantly, they are a definite dog-friendly park. That is something the lady 2 sites down should have noted when they made their reservation, since she didn't seem to like "people and their stupid dogs" being on the trail going to the beach.
All in all, we really liked this campground. Read the rules, follow the rules, and you will have a great time. Keep your kids and dogs under control, and enjoy the excellent location, and happy camping!
