Liked the campground quite a lot until another camper started an out of control fire a couple campsites away from ours with wind gusts blowing right at our campsite.. Ended up waking up to smell of smoke, seeing a 30-40’ line of fire outside our window, got dressed and called 911 at 11:30pm. Quickly hooked up and left with assistance of state police. Pulled out as fire truck arrived and spent night in parking lot of State of MI Welcome Center/Rest Area down the road….😢Quite memorable in a horrible way. If we had awakened a few minutes later, we likely would have lost our trailer and vehicle. I’m assuming we would have at least been able to rescue ourselves and our dogs if not our vehicles. We never once saw the camp host. Another camper walked over as we were driving away and said the same thing had happened the night before!!!! Prior to this horrific end, we thought the campground was nice except for the women’s bathroom being locked up at the end of the day— another lady and I lended up showering in the men’s. We realize the campground closed on the 11th but gee whiz.
