Farquar-Mesta Tourist Park & Campground — Reviews

  • Rated5.0out of 5Fantastic!

The campground was clean and quiet. The kids loved the trail that followed the river.

RV park is beautiful! Has a small river next to campground. Each site has green grass, fire pit, picnic table, water, electric and sewer. We decided to pay for 2 extra days! Also, has wifi.

Place is nice and woodsy. Bathrooms especially the showers could use some work (which you have to pay to take a shower in???) but overall a great stay.

Some dogs running loose with no leash. Clearer instructions needed for check in and wifi password. The campsite was level and each site had its own trash can. Trash was picked up daily. Would recommend this campground.

Delighted! And pleasantly surprised. We have always had to pay more than double this price for full hookups so our expectations were low. Even looking at the satellite map, we weren't expecting much. But now that we're here, we love it! There are more trees than you would expect especially closer to the bath house. The showers are free, hot, and not on timers. A hop skip and a jump from the campsites is a lovely River with rapids and a small waterfall. The trail along the river is gorgeous but does get rustic after a certain point. Make sure you go as far as the picnic table. And venture on if you're not afraid of walking through plants hanging over the trail. Some of the road trail is a Sandy Road like an ATV route or something. We did not see any people or vehicles on our hike. Nor did we see any moose or bears 😒 Most of the time there is no one in the office except every afternoon approximately 3 to 5:00 p.m. There are people who come around and collect the garbage and do maintenance though. Garbage cans are placed at every campsite and there are stations providing bags for dog waste. It's very clean and well kept and there's always firewood available which I believe is self-serve. There's also a small library and a lot of brochures. As the ground is mostly sandy, it's not muddy after rain. We did not have to do any leveling with our motorhome! Our site was perfectly level. The water pressure is good and we have not had any problems with electric. Also perhaps because we are close to the bath house and office, we have had a strong Wi-Fi signal all week.

We really enjoyed our stay in this quiet, small RV park! The wifi strength was consistently good and we had a good Verizon signal for working. There is a shorter (1.2 mile) but great hiking trail along the river. We were only 25 minutes from Marquette/Lake Superior. We would definitely return to the Farquar-Mesta Tourist Park and Campground!
