Located one-half mile off U.S. 41 on Oregon Church Road, Fowler Park serves as a multipurpose park. Inside Fowler Park are two lakes, a campground, picnic shelters, playgrounds, trails, a covered bridge and a pioneer village with a working gristmill. Fowler Lake, 25.9 acres, has a boat launch, a beach for swimming. The lake is stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, channel catfish and black crappie. The second lake is located on the west side of the park hidden behind the hillside. Largemouth bass, crappie, and bluegill are found in it. Bask in the sun by the lake or enjoy a stroll under the covered bridge, there is so much beauty to be discovered at Fowler Park!

  • Explore The Vigo County Parks Hike - Fowler Dates

    January 15 - December 16

    Join us for our Explore the Vigo County Parks Hikes for a different park and trail each month. Distances will vary depending on the park and trail chosen. It is recommended to wear footwear appropriate for the season and to bring water from home to stay hydrated while on the trails.   • Blacksmithing Classes

    May 21 - October 15

    Work with experienced blacksmiths to learn how to operate a blacksmith forge, understand the parts of an anvil, and the uses for various hand tools in the blacksmith shop. Each participant will shape metal using learned techniques including forging a curve, twist, point, square – octagon – round taper, cutting stock, heating techniques, and fire management. Participants must not wear synthetic clothing for this class. Participants will be standing the majority of the day. Chairs will be provided for periods of rest.   • Fowler Park Hayride!

    October 28

    Join the VCPRD on Friday, October 28th at Fowler Park from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for family-friendly hayrides! Rides will leave from the Foltz Cabin directly across from the Fowler Park Log Barn. Tickets are $3 per person. This event is open to all ages and includes a brief ride through the Fowler Park Pioneer Village and around the park!   • Fowler Park After Dark

    October 28

    Be afraid, be very afraid and join us for the third annual Fowler Park After Dark! On Friday, October 28th from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., the VCPRD will be offering a haunted Halloween tour through Fowler Park Pioneer Village! Participants will meet at the Fowler Park Log Barn and will be guided through the village if they dare! Ghosts and ghouls lurk around every corner! Directly following the event, we will have a showing of Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021) in the field directly adjacent to Shelter A, courtesy of DeeJay Danny Wayne! If you have any questions or would like to volunteer for this event, please call our administrative office at 812-462-3392 or email our Rec Coordinator at Rec.Coordinator@VigoCounty.IN.gov! Happy haunting! NOTE: Tours will begin at 7:30 p.m. Parking is available in the barn parking lot. Auxiliary parking is available in the beach parking lot. There is a 10 participant maximum for each guided tour so make sure to arrive early to get registered! The registration fee for this event is $5 and can be paid upon arrival! This is a haunted event and is not recommended for children under the age of 13. Thanks in advance!

  • Christmas Walk

    December 2 - December 3

    Join the VCPRD for our annual Christmas Walk. Walk our Pioneer Village by Candlelight as our Volunteer exhibit holiday traditions from the early 1800s! There will be children’s activities, live music, historical cabins & covered bridge, demonstrations, pioneer skills presentations, musical performers, and much more!
