Great River Harbor Campground & Marina — Reviews

I selected "best available' site. When I showed up the site we were given was gross. The fire pit was overflowing with garbage. There was a big pile of garbage at the back of the site. It was also practically on the rail road tracks. I went and asked for my money back so we could stay somewhere else. They tried to give us different site some a little bit cleaner but all super crowded. One was waterfront but what should have been one site was two sites and our 20 foot trailer would not fit with another camper there. The others are on the railroad tracks. We choose to leave. They refused a refund. This place is inaccurately described. It is a seasonal trailer court that is extremely packed. Any business that felt that it at least tried would have given someone standing there disgusted a refund. Instead they gaslighted me.

Our experience at Great River Campground was an absolute disaster. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway, stay as far away from this place as possible. We booked two nights, but ended up leaving after just one. Why? Because no one told us there was a train track maybe 30 yards away from the campsites. Trains came barreling through every hour or two, horns blaring like it was trying to wake the dead. How is that not mentioned when booking? It's beyond misleading. Their excuse? "Oh, well, there’s a train track on the map!" Seriously? Who in their right mind is supposed to interpret that as a loud, sleep-ruining nightmare? To make matters worse, the campsites are ¼ mile away from any toilets. Our annual family trip was ruined, and our 5-year-old now hates camping. Thanks a lot, Great River. This experience was completely unforgivable. Avoid this campground at all costs.

The weekend was great, good food, good music and friendly people.

lots to do, beautiful site, great camp store with bar and grill. I took away a store because there was no sewer connection.
