Campsite was great lots of space close to higgins lake everything we were looking for

Pros The workers we talked to were nice enough. The sites could be parked on. Cons Gate fee? Yes it's refundable when you return it. But if you lose it then it's 25 more dollars? Why not just say up front it's 35 bucks if you lose the card? Want a second car? There's a fee for that too! Plus the gate fee. Can't forget about that! Got kids? Yep you guessed it. A fee. Why? It's not like there's amenities outside of a playground. Want to be able to use your full hookup? You may want a 30 foot sewer hose. And sewage pump. Gravity doesn't roll uphill. Want more fees? Just ask about what else they could possibly charge you for. It's there. Price is eye watering considering there's no lake or pool. Don't bother picking a site out. It's an extra 15 to "lock it in". We did lose power for awhile. But I don't really blame em for that. Stuff happens. At least there wasn't a fee.

We booked late for a 4th of July trip. Campground is 4ish miles from the state campground/park, which was nice for boating. We had a very large lot and were able to park our 3 cars, trailer, and pontoon on our site. Bathrooms frequently ran out of TP, ice is super expensive $23 for 60lbs of ice, and wood bundles were $8 a piece, Wi-Fi didn’t have enough signal at our site. The store on site was nice though. This campground did the job for our holiday weekend.

We came 8 years ago when this was part of KOA, now the cabins are not at all maintained, they were dirty and moldy, we would never come again For the amount of ki ey we paid we could have stayed at a much better resort

The sites are nice with many mature trees to provide shade. We appreciated the campstore with pizza for a quick meal and other odds and ends. The staff were friendly though those working in the store seemed not well-versed in the actual campground. Like, they couldn’t answer any specific questions about. Not their fault, just an observation and an opportunity for training since they’re the first people you interact with. Reason for 3 stars: the only reliable bathhouse is all the way at the front of the campground, attached to the store. So if you’re in the back or other side of campground, it’s a hike. If you’re there with kids, it’s really hard. Also the price for a bundle of wood is high. I like to burn a fire when I camp, for all my meals and to sit around at night and felt like I had to really ration my wood or I’d have to spend a lot on wood.

Upkeep was not great. Bathrooms were dirty every time we went into them, not cleaned one time over the weekend (nor did it look like they were clean prior to us arriving). We were put at a site that was lower power than what we signed up for. The campground was dead, maybe a total of 10 other campers. Yet we weren’t given a reason for why we couldn’t move to another site. We got stuck at breakfast the day of checkout later than we expected & were not given any grace. They immediately were greedy for more money. For the price of the campsite & our actual accommodations, not worth it. Would not recommend this campground to anyone.

We enjoyed the peace and the tranquility

Nice hosts. Sites need some maintenance. Camp store is nice but trails were overgrown..grass on the sites were long and the trees need trimmed.
