Hudson Hideaway RV Retreat — Reviews

  • Rated4.0out of 5Great!

This campground has the potential to be a great campground if the owners will continue to improve it. There is no office. All communication is online. Even though it seems to be in a rural setting; it is located on a busy intersection. Traffic noise lasted well into late night and early morning. We needed a place to camp with full hookup including sewer. Hudson Hideaway fit the bill perfectly. The wifi was practically non-existant.

Our experience at this campground was highly disappointing, as the property is falsely represented online. The website describes a serene "Retreat," but the reality is a basic gravel parking lot situated directly off a main road. We encountered several significant issues during our stay: • Safety and Speed: There is no posted speed limit. Other guests frequently drive through the gravel lot at high speeds at all hours. Management urgently needs to post a standard 5 mph limit, as is customary at other campgrounds. • Misleading Site Layout: We booked Site 10 because it was advertised as "private." However, the utilities are positioned on the designated private side. This forces you to set up your awning on the driveway side, directly overlooking the rest of the parking lot and other campers. Reversing the RV to gain privacy leaves you facing a house, a loud street, and your own hookups. • Inaccurate Amenity Descriptions: The website claims SxS riding trails are located "minutes" away. In reality, the trails are a 25-to-30-minute drive, require a trailer (which is not feasible for a Class A motorhome), and are only open on Fridays and Saturdays. Additionally, the pond pictured online, was nowhere to be found on the actual property & we could only conclude that it is actually private property belonging to a neighboring residence across the street. While we enjoyed exploring the local Amish community in Ethridge, this campground is only suitable as a quick, single-night stopover while traveling, or working in the area, rather than a destination. Do not expect the amenities or atmosphere advertised on the website.

The unfinished waterline repair, the unlevel site and the lack of restroom facilities diminished what was otherwise a very nice, quiet and convenient campground. Hopefully in time all these will be addressed to make Hudson Hideaway live up to its potential.

It was a place to park for the night is the best thing that I can say about it. Not more than a gravel parking lot with full hook-ups and no facilities of any kind.

We driving/traveling and needed it a place to stop by for the night, and this place was great, really good price and the water pleasure was the best I've seen in a campground. Easy check in, I stayed in site 6 and my neighbor in site 4 was great guy. Amish stores, and town is a 10 minute drive.

The campground was clean and the sites were big and most were pull thru sites. There is no contact with the owners or any staff. You book online and just go to your site upon arrival. It was a nice place if you’re just passing thru

Road noise. Not something you can change. Also kinda weird in the first site, you sit outside and look into the yard next door. Maybe a short section of fence, just for a little more privacy. Other than that, it’s clean, well maintained and close to shopping and dining.

This place is absolutely the best! They greet you as soon as you pull off the road. It’s clean and well maintained. Our site had a beautiful view! The WiFi was amazing. Minutes from Lawrenceburg, we’ll definitely be back!

Overall a great experience. You may want to speak to the neighbor. He is a kind man, but bothersome. The monthly renters may need reminding that yelling the F word to their children doesn’t make for a relaxing and peaceful time. The park was very clean and very well manicured. The dog run is a nice bonus that many parks do not have. The Amish are very friendly, and the cloppity clop of the hooves from their horses was wonderful to see and hear. Driving around locally, we found some hidden gems where we were able to purchase some home grown beets that are outta this world and very inexpensive. We found a hand carved cane and peanut brittle that was to die for. I imagine that the produce just gets better as the season progresses. The Saturday market in town was a great time as well. We found a lot of project prices for very minimal pricing. Thank you for the clean and safe place. Best of luck to your campground.
