The deception when it comes to electricity is really upsetting. I arrived around 7:30pm to my spot and went to plug in to the 30amp when I noticed someone else was plugged into it. I went up to them and they said that when they checked in, they were told it was "first come first serve" with plug-ins but if I went to the desk, they would provide me with an adapter.
I go to the camp store front desk and let them know that I was told I would be given an adapter to plug my camper in. She goes and grabs a 50 to 30 adapter and proceeds to charge me $30 for it. I was shocked. I was immediately told it was in the terms & conditions. And I asked where, the website? Because I read no such thing. I read contracts for a living. And I always read every campground rules because they vary from park to park. It NEVER stated that. I wanted to argue it but I figured I should double back and make sure I didn't skip it. So I paid for the adapter.
Go back to my site and get set up so the kids could start cooking. Go back to read said terms & conditions. Nowhere. Not a single mention of this "first come first serve" anywhere. I looked through every form listed on the Campspot app and directly from their website. It doesn't say anything of the sort. Might not be a big deal to some, but it's misleading regardless. $30 is a lot of money. And I wasn't planning to buy an adapter. I have NEVER needed to use one. If I book a site for 30amp service, I expect 30amp service. That's it. The park wasn't busy when we came last year so it wasn't an issue. This year it was.
The next day, our 2nd site became available and we set up our tent for when the others arrived. Went to plug in to THAT sites tower and the 20amp service wasn't even working. Tried everything. But I just had a feeling that if I were to go up to the store, they would SELL me a 30 to 20amp adapter and call it a day. Not at all worried about the costs adding up to others. They are just out here trying to make money on everything apparently. Thank goodness I had plenty of extension cords along with my friends to run it from my original tower over to her site right next to mine.
My nephew fell on the porch and sliced his knew right open at close of the store. They immediately turned around to ask for gauze or something to find the door locked and the lights already shut off. It wasn't until about an hour after the fact that we were approached with an incident report. The metal casing around the beams sticks out and there was also a nail sticking far out as well. He landed perfect and cut his knee open DEEP. But I'm sure they would've tried to charge us for assisting him.
Feel free to stay here if you are wanting a gamble on boondocking or paying to make electric service work somehow. After the deception and lack of caring, we won't be back.
