Schildberg Recreation Area Campground

About These Rules

            All users of the Schildberg Campgrounds are subject to the City & State regulations. These regulations are meant to control actions that cause damage to natural resources and facilities, as well as actions that cause unreasonable disturbances or unsafe conditions to visitors.

The Campground Director, the City of Atlantic, or representative of the City of Atlantic may issue orders that will close or restrict the use of certain areas if the need arises. These closures will be clearly marked & posted.

The City of Atlantic Iowa is not responsible for any loss, theft, or damages of personal property.

Hours of Operation

            Day users may be in the campgrounds & recreation areas from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Only overnight campers may remain in this area after 10 p.m.

Check ins, Reservations, & Fees

            Campers who have not reserved their campsites will need to do so immediately upon arrival & pay the fees for the selected site(s) in full. All camping sites include a $2.00 registration fee regardless of payment option. Please see the Camp Host in campsite 20 for assistance. Reserved campsites must be paid in full at time of reservation.  

Check Out     

Check out time for day of departure is 12:00 PM unless otherwise agreed upon with the Camp Host prior to departure day.           

Sanitation

·         Keep all garbage, waste, & pet messes picked up & properly bagged. You will need to place all waste inside of the garbage dumpsters provided on site near the parking lot.

THE FOLLOWING IS PROHIBITED:

·         Depositing in any toilet, toilet vault, or plumbing fixture any substance which could damage or interfere with the operation or maintenance of the fixture.

·         Possessing or leaving refuse, debris, or litter in an exposed or unsanitary condition.

·         Placing in or near a stream, lake, or other water any substance which does or may pollute a stream, lake, or other water.

·         Failing to dispose of all garbage, including but not limited to any paper, can, bottle, sewage, wastewater or material, or rubbish either by removal from the site or area, or by depositing into the receptacle or places provided for such purposes.

·         Dumping of any refuse, debris, trash, junk, or litter brought as such from private property.

·         Cleaning or washing any personal property, fish, animal, or food, or bathing, or washing at a hydrant or water faucet not provided for that purpose.

·         Depositing any body waste except into receptacles provided for that purpose.

 

Camping Sites

THE FOLLOWING IS PROHIBITED:

·         Camping is not permitted outside the designated campsites.

·         Failing to remove all camping or personal property when vacating the site.

 

Pets

·         Pets are allowed at campgrounds. No more than three (3) (Anymore will need preapproval by the City of Atlantic or a representative of the City of Atlantic.)  common household pets (e.g., cats and dogs) may be kept on any site. No other animals, livestock, poultry, reptiles, or insects of any kind shall be kept on any site.

·         No dangerous, aggressive, or poisonous pets of any kind are permitted.

·         Management reserves the right to reject any pet.

·         All pets must be registered with the office and vaccination records must be available upon request.

·         All pets must wear a collar identifying the owner and phone number and all pets must be always on a leash.

·         Pets must be kept on a leash, cleaned up after, and not left unattended at campsites.  

·         Leashes are not allowed to exceed the distance of your reserved campsite.

·         Pets are not permitted in the public buildings or amenity areas, including but not limited to the bathrooms…

·         The City of Atlantic Animal Control Officer or an Atlantic Police Officer will be called to address any potential issues in violation of the City of Atlantic’s Code of Ordinance. Chapter 55 – 57 Animal Protection and Control

Fires   

            Campfires must be inside fire rings provided at the campsite. Dead or down material may be used. Living trees, shrubs and plants may not be cut or damaged. Remove all flammable materials from around the campfire to prevent its escape. Fires may be prohibited during burn ban conditions. Obey any special restrictions that have been issued or posted.

THE FOLLOWING IS PROHIBITED:

·         Building, attending, maintaining, or using a fire outside of a provided fire ring provided for such purpose or outside of a stove, grill, or fireplace.

·         Carelessly or negligently throwing or placing any ignited substance or other substance that may cause a fire.

·         Causing timber, trees, brush, or grass to burn.

·         Leaving a fire without completely extinguishing it.

·         Causing or failing to maintain control of a fire that causes damage.

·         Building, attending, maintaining, or using a campfire without removing all flammable material from around the campfire adequate to prevent its escape.

Fireworks and Firearms

            Use of Firearms is Prohibited. Public use of firearms, fireworks, explosives, and weapons of all kinds is prohibited.

Noise and Conduct

              The campgrounds quiet time is 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM Sunday through Thursday & 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM Friday and Saturday. Obnoxious, disturbing, or bothersome continuous noise will not be permitted.

            THE FOLLOWING IS PROHIBITED:

·         Engaging in fighting.

·         Causing public inconvenience, annoyance, or alarm by making unreasonably loud noise.

·         Operating or using in or near a campsite, developed recreation site, or over an adjacent body of water without a permit, any devices which produce noise, such as but not limited to a radio, television, musical instrument, motor, or engine in such a manner and at such a time so as to unreasonably disturb any person.

Resource Protection

            THE FOLLOWING IS PROHIBITED:

·         Entry to areas closed to the public.

·         Use of metal detectors, electronic apparatuses, or any other devices for the purpose of locating any metal objects.

·         Damaging or removing any natural feature or other property of the City of Atlantic, the state of Iowa, or the United States.

·         Digging in, excavating, disturbing, injuring, destroying, removing or in any way damaging any structure, site, artifact, or property.

Trail/Walking Path Use

            THE FOLLOWING ARE PROHIBITED:

·         Operating motorbike, motorcycle, ATV, or other motorized vehicles on the trails/walking paths unless designated for this use.

Firewood

            Firewood is provided free by the City of Atlantic while supply is available. Speak with the Campground Hosts if you require firewood.

            On the ground kindling (dry leaves & sticks) may be collected & used to start fires in designated areas only.

THE FOLLOWING IS PROHIBITED:

·         No out of state firewood permitted in the campground.

·         No cutting or otherwise damaging any timber, tree, or other plant life.

·         Selling or exchanging any timber, tree, or plant life.

·         Removing any timber, tree, or other plant life, except as authorized by a special-use authorization, timber sale contract from the City of Atlantic.

Interfering with a City Employee, Representatives of the City of Atlantic, or Volunteer.

All City of Atlantic Employees, or Representatives of the City of Atlantic reserves the right to inspect any and all sites. Any Tenant in violation of the rules and regulations will forfeit their reservation and all monies paid and will be required to leave immediately.

The City maintains the grass & weeds on all camp sites & reserves the right to access a reserved or occupied site for the purpose of maintaining the site itself & any of its amenities. Though the occupant is still responsible for maintaining their personal belongings, garbage, & cleaning up after any pets regularly.

THE FOLLOWING ARE PROHIBITED:

·         Threatening, resisting, intimidating, or interfering with any City Employee, Rep. of the City of Atlantic, or Volunteer in or due to the performance of their official duties in the protection, improvement, maintenance, or administration of their duties.

·         Giving any false, fictitious, or fraudulent report or other information to any City of Atlantic Employee, Peace Officer, or Rep. of the City of Atlantic engaging in due to the performance of their official duties knowing that such report or other information contains false, fictitious, or fraudulent statements or entry.

 

Fish & Wildlife

            Laws and regulations established by the State of Iowa Department of Natural Recourses (IDNR) apply to all bodies of water, wildlife areas, timbers, forests, & inside any city limits. To view the hunting & fishing laws & regulations please go to https://www.iowadnr.gov/ For the City of Atlantic Ordinance please go to https://www.atlanticiowa.com/atlantic/ These laws, regulations, & ordinances do apply & will be enforced.

Other Restrictions

            Appearance Guidelines

Overall, the RV should look and function as it was originally designed & be in good condition.

·          Doors, shrouds, panels, windows, and coverings, etc. should be intact and not unsightly.

·         Exterior should be not unsightly, and should be free of obvious, poorly repaired damages.

·         Tarps cannot be used for weatherproofing and awnings should be in good condition.

·         Air conditioning units should not be added through the walls or windows unless previously approved.

·         All hoses, wires, etc. should route through ports as originally designed.

·         Exterior should be free of duct tape, repair tape, excessive caulk, etc.

Isolated minor issues are generally acceptable, provided multiple issues are not combined to substantially deteriorate the appearance of an RV:

·         Minor body damage which has been properly repaired but is still visible.

·         Fading of decals and/or paint.

·         Minor window cracking, although replacements should be scheduled.

·         Damage from traveling that has just happened, especially if you have a repair plan.

           

Winter Camping Policey:

           Schildberg Campgrounds is open all year to the public for camping. 

                > campers are allowed to connect their waterlines for the perpose of filling thier water tanks only. Once the camper is done filling the water tank the camper is responcible for disconnecting the water connection & draining their own hose. 

                  - Campers who do not remove the water connection after filling thier tank may be responcable for damages to the water connection. 

               > Campers are responcible for their own winterizing of their campers. Schildberg Campground, the City of Atlantic, and any representative of the City of Atlantic is not responcible for any winter damage to personal property. 

Cancellation Policy

If you must cancel your reservation, please notify us at least 48 Hours prior to your arrival date. Less than 24 Hours prior to your arrival are non-refundable and subject to forfeiture of total payment. refunds and cancellation fees are completely at The City of Atlantic, IA Schildberg Campgrounds discretion & must be approved. In any event, a minimum $15.00 cancellation fee will apply. due to the limited quantity of available campsites, please understand we will not make any exceptions to our cancellation policy due to work conflicts, weather, specific campground closures, forest closures, covid-19 or unavailability of specific campsites.

Refund Policy

Refunds & cancellation fees are completely at The City of Atlantic, IA Schildberg Campgrounds discretion & must be approved. In any event, a minimum $15.00 cancellation fee will apply.
