Sustainable Hill Wellness Resort, Scotch Village, Nova Scotia
- CHECK IN/CHECK OUT: Check in is at 3 PM and entitles you to your campsite or tiny home until 11 AM the day of your check out. Check out time is 11 AM. You do not need to contact us to check out, unless you need to touch base about something. Early Check in/Check out requests can be submitted to hello@sustainablehill.ca, but are not guaranteed.
- MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY: Each campsite has a maximum occupancy of 5 people, based on its size and amenities. Each tiny home has a maximum occupancy of 4 people. This limit includes all registered guests and any approved additional guests.
- REGISTERED GUESTS ONLY: All guests who stay overnight or visit the site must be registered. Any additional guests beyond those registered at the time of booking must be approved by resort management in advance, must register, and are subject to additional fees.
- DAY VISITORS: Day visitors are allowed to enjoy the resort during your overnight stay. Visitors are subject to the same rules and regulations as overnight guests, including adherence to quiet hours and other resort policies. Visiting hours are from 8 AM to 10 PM. Day visitors wishing to remain past 10 PM will be charged the overnight fee and require approval by resort management
- ADDITIONAL OVERNIGHT GUESTS: Additional adult guests added to a booking will be charged a $25/night accommodation fee. Children aged 17 and under who are added to the booking will not be charged an accommodation fee.
- GUEST RESPONSIBILITY: The guest who makes the booking is responsible for the conduct of their additional guests and must ensure that they comply with all resort rules and policies. Any damage or disturbance caused by additional guests is the responsibility of the booking guest.
- NON-TRANSFERABLE RESERVATIONS: Reservations are non-transferable, and guests cannot substitute or change registered guests without prior approval from resort management. This policy ensures accurate record-keeping and compliance with safety regulations.
- COMPLIANCE WITH POLICIES: All guests and additional guests must comply with resort policies, including those related to safety, cleanliness, waste disposal, and respectful behaviour toward staff and other guests.
- RESERVATION CHANGES: Any changes to the number of guests or the addition of new guests must be communicated to resort management as soon as possible. Changes may be subject to availability and additional charges.
- VEHICLES: For the safety of our livestock and all campers, the speed limit on site is 10 km/h. Parking on access roads is prohibited. Additionally, unlicensed motor vehicles, children's motorized vehicles, and golf carts are not allowed on the property.
- CAMPFIRES: Campfires are only permitted in the designated community fire pit. Campfires are not allowed anywhere else on the resort. The burn pile must be no higher than 0.5 meters, supervised at all times by a responsible adult, and fully extinguished before leaving the area. Guests must abide by provincial fire bans. - SUPERVISION: Children 13 and under must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
- PRESERVATION OF GROUNDS: Trees and shrubbery shall not be cut, broken, or defaced, whether dead or alive. Such damage will be charged for as determined by management.
- PETS: We ask that you keep your dog on a leash for the safety of you and our other guests. Dogs must be well-behaved and under the control of a responsible adult at all times - ie. they cannot be left alone in your tent or tiny home. Guests must bring bedding for the dog(s), as they are not allowed on the resort beds. Guests are responsible for cleaning up and disposing of all droppings. Any additional cleaning required may result in an added cleaning fee of $25. Pet owners are responsible for the cost of repairing or replacing any equipment damaged by their pet (e.g. chewed items, soiled bedding, etc.).
- RESTRICTED AREAS: Pet owners are welcome to walk their dog outside of their campsite, so long as the dog is on leash or under control at all times. Dogs are strictly forbidden from entering Sustainable Hill Farm. Sustainable Hill Farm is an active hobby farm neighbouring the resort. The farm consists of Chickens, Ducks, Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, and Sheep. Adults and supervised children are welcome to enjoy watching the farm animals from the edge of the white picket fence, but are strictly forbidden from feeding them or entering the farm without prior approval from resort management. Guided tours of the farm and its animals are available upon request to the resort management.
- SEVERE WEATHER: In the event of severe weather, please seek shelter in the storage building or by attending the residence at 301 Scotch Village Station Rd, adjacent to the campground.
- COMPOSTABLE TOILETS: The toilets in the tiny homes and outhouse are compostable toilets. These toilets work by diverting urine, which helps to minimize odour and compost solid waste. All guests MUST sit on the toilet to pee - no standing pees allowed. Please wipe the seat after use and dispose of the toilet paper in the solid waste container.
- WASTE DISPOSAL: Campers are encouraged to adopt a “Leave No Trace” policy where they take their garbage, compost and recycling with them. Please do not leave your trash on the ground. Animals can be attracted to left-out or discarded food.
- DRONES: Drones are not permitted at our resort. Please do not fly drones over people or sites. There are several local area parks where drones are permitted for your enjoyment.
- Sustainable Hill Wellness Resort will not be held responsible or liable for any property damage, injury, fire, collision, or theft. The use of resort facilities for you, your family and your guests is at your own risk.
