Park was extremely clean and staff was friendly and welcoming. Only complaints and they’re minor… 1) Because it’s a one way loop, everyone drives past everyone’s camper ever time they come or go. This leads to a fair amount of car traffic. 2) the sites are level left to right but some have significant front to back elevation changes.

It was a great experience except for 3 minor things. We were in Lot 1 in RV section and we were so close to power lines I could hear them crackling and buzzing. Also the street lights never turn off so it never really gets that dark. I'm sure they serve a safety purpose but ruins the night. Also you would think since it would have some sort of water view but they prefer pine trees down here at Allison Creek. They had clean bathrooms, nice friendly staff, lots were spaced apart so very private, and very large lot too. They had an aluminum picnic table that was super easy to lift and move to customize ur seating arrangement. We went down a trail and it was very pretty this time of year with the leaves changing. Also noticed that when making an online reservation they do not charge the correct fee by automatically charging all York County residents the full Non-York County residents rate, an extra 5 dollars. It should be addressed because it is false advertising and clearly someone is pocketing the extra cash. Also when making online reservation you can not pick your actual site which is very inconvenient and is a feature all SC state parks currently offer. Next time I stay I will call in the rangers office 803 323 2035 so I can reserve a site towards the back with less street lights and pay the approximate amount which is currently 35 a night insted of 40.
