Big Bend Park — Reviews

My family and I had a great stay this past weekend! My kids loved the bike decorating along with the parade! We will definitely be back to make more memories as a family!

Quiet, well maintained.

A lot of wasted space with in your campsite due to trees in the middle of the site. Hard a hard timing fitting our camp on our site.

The park over all is great. As far as our campsites we had a hard time fitting our camper on it due to trees being in the middle of the campsite. We notice that there is a lot of sites like this so we are unsure if we will be visiting again.

Park Officials were rude. Officials picked on weekend campers for rule violations but yet didn't say a word to Seasonals for the same issues. Will never go back or recommend..

We love Big Bend and the Muskegon river! We always stay at this campground, maybe 3 or 4 times a summer. When our lives slow down, we hope to get into the lottery for a more permanent site!!

The check in was easy, but the office closes at 7 PM so its hard to work the day and then make the drive from GR. The sites we reserved were ones we stayed at before and we love the sites. This campground has a lot of seasonal folks who are friendly but they are a bit louder than some other campgrounds we have stayed at. We stayed in tents so sometimes it was a bit loud and it was past 10 PM. There is a quiet time at 11 and we needed to ask the rangers to enforce it. They must have told the seasonal folks that we were asking them to enforce it because as they drove by they made some comments. The bathrooms were kept pretty clean and that is always appreciated when staying in a tent. We brought our kayaks and its a bit difficult to bring them down to the docks, but we managed. The water in some spots is extremely clear and we enjoy that very much

Fabulous location. Beautiful views. Campsites were on the smaller side but adequate. Be prepared for the seasonal people as they definitely rule the roost. They almost seem to treat the park as one big outdoor bar. It wasn't what I was looking for for camping, but some people might like that atmosphere. Please note however, they were respectful of quiet hours. But when people start drinking at noon and quiet hours starts at 11. :00 it's a long long time. Several campers on one side of the park are very friendly with campers on the other side of the park and unfortunately we were in the middle. Our campsite and surrounding campsites became a major thoroughfare for people to walk through, Annoying for us and super annoying for our dogs. We did end up leaving a day early. The staff was very helpful with an issue we had at the dump station. Another issue was the glaring yard light outside our campsite that came on early and stayed on, we never were able to enjoy the night as it never got dark! I only wrote this review because we booked the campground based on the description that said it was quiet and peaceful. It really was not. But for some people it would be a lot of fun, for us it wasn't. There's a lot of fun for families and the park was super clean, showers and bathrooms and grounds.

Mixed experience at Big Bend. The campground is in a scenic location on the river and on the Dragon Trail. It seemed well maintained. Vault toilets and showers were clean. The staff were friendly. That said, there is a definite party element to the campground. During the day, a strong marijuana odor drifted from one of the seasonal sites. Our first night, three people came in after midnight and had a loud drunken campfire, complete with guitar, that lasted until 4am. Our second night, someone was blasting music from the loudest speaker I've ever heard in a campground. They did shut it down before the official "quiet time," but in the meantime everyone within a half mile radius involuntarily had to listen to everything from classic rock to country to 2 Live Crew.

Clean bathrooms, quiet campground at night.

Campground was well maintained, and had everything you needed for the weekend at the store if you forgot anything. It was quiet, spacious and everyone was friendly and well behaved.

Ranger drives by every 28 minutes but doesn’t enforce curfew rules. Very loud partying until 3 AM isn’t cool. Why bother?
