The campground, located on the west side of the park, has approximately 70 modern sites with electricity and approximately 15 primitive sites. Shower houses, restrooms, and a dump station are available to campers. Take a stroll through the labyrinth, it has been found in all traditions throughout history in various forms around the world. It is an ancient therapeutic tool that has been rediscovered and is growing in popularity. It's time to see the beauty of Hawthorn Park!

    Join the Vigo County Parks at Markle Mill Park near Hawthorn for Experience Otter Creek on May 4th! Learn about what lives in the Otter Creek Watershed, fish stocking, wild turkeys, trails, invasive species, trees, beekeeping, aquatic life and wildlife, gardening and more! There will be lots of learning and hands on activities for kids!

  • Family Hikes

    May 18 - December 21

    As the weather is warming up, it's time for family hikes! Gather your family and join us for our monthly hiking club! The third Saturday of every month starting this May we'll meet in one of our county parks to go on a guided hikes on some of our beautiful trails. Hikes will be at 1 pm and last until about 2 pm, though some can go longer. Third Saturday of every month beginning in May from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. All ages are welcome!
