We were at campsite #66, next to the only outhouse facility for the entire upper campground. While convenient that we didn’t have to walk far (there is a trail directly from our site), the outhouse clearly had not been serviced in quite some time and smelled awful. The waste was piling up to the point where you could see every gory detail… We informed park staff, but they doubted anyone could clean it since it was the weekend (and they were right). We soon discovered that planes frequently fly overhead as there is an airstrip nearby! Also be aware, the primitive sites are gravelly and very difficult to secure your tent stakes. Although it’s conveniently located just a few minutes from town and the fairgrounds, we will likely find another campground to stay at next year.

Spot was muddy from the recent rains. Was listed on Campspot as a pull through site, but is not. Tree stump across from site entry made it difficult to get our trailer backed into the site. But, love having the dump station available. Bathrooms are always clean and love the peace and calm the campground has.

I was extremely disappointed in not being able to have a fire in the rv area, all the ripe berries through the park going to waste with signs saying “no picking.” Bathrooms locked from 10 pm to 8 am so any late night or early risers have to substitute other means to relive themselves. I am unsure if the campground was bought recently but I enjoyed it better in years past.

From 3:30am onwards there were bush planes taking off from the airport next door and zooming just overhead. Very difficult to sleep with that amazing amount of noise.

Great folks working here, not cheap but reasonably priced for camping in a larger town with or without electric. Palmer is a very nice area with plenty of restaurants and things to do and it's close to Wasilla where even more shopping and services are located. Only downside is that the shower/flush toilets are closed from 10pm - 8am, although pit toilets are located a bit further away from the electric sites.
