About

Oak & Ember Farms is an experience-driven agritourism destination, featuring a boutique regenerative farm and nursery, 10 acres of woods and a massive 4-acre pond. Located in Jefferson Township, a small rural community just a few miles outside of downtown Dayton, Ohio.

Their journey began in 2020 when the founding partner formed a group to purchase this beautiful 36 acre farm that was steeped rich in history. From being the homestead of the late Bluegrass Hall of Fame legends “The Osbourne Brothers” to being the over 50 year home to local BBQ pioneers Earnest and Mary Shields.

To date over 10k hours in restoration redevelopment efforts have built an operating organic no till market garden and native plant nursery on site. Much of the produce is grown to support the local community, to include some of the top restaurants and chefs in the city.

Guests are invited to come relax and experience all that the land has to offer, and if you're up for it, feel free to get your hands dirty!

Located in the heart of our property, guests can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, from hiking on trails, both on site or in the nearby metropark, fishing in the pond, or evening campfires under a canopy of stars. These boondocking sites promise a blend of adventure and relaxation, catering to those who wish to explore the beauty of nature without forgoing the conveniences of modern living, assuming you have a self-sufficient setup of course. NOTE: You may bring a contained, freestanding fire pit for use at your campsite, but it must have a screen cover unless it's a solo stove. SILENT GENERATORS ONLY please.

    Primitive Tent Site

    The primitive tent camping sites are nestled on the edge of an open field, adjacent to the pond. Although these sites are shown along the main driveway, we're pretty flexible with the precise placement of your tent. Come see us if you wish to setup elsewhere in the field and we'll do our best to accommodate. Two of the three community fire pits are nearby, encouraging camaraderie among campers, and will put your outdoor cooking skills to the test. These basic retreats are ideal for enjoying fishing, hiking, or fireside gatherings under the stars, and the lack of modern facilities invites guests to embrace the simplicity of nature. NOTE: You may bring a contained, freestanding fire pit for use at your campsite, but it must have a screen cover unless it's a solo stove.

    Awesome place. The host couldn’t have been nicer and accommodating. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a spot to kick back and enjoy nature. The tomatoes organically grown on the farm are amazing! Thanks, Casey!

    Chris was super helpful and flexible. The farm was low-key with clean porta potties. We enjoyed strolling around looking at the veggies growing in the hoop house. A fawn greeted us as we arrived! Chris recommended a great Chinese hand-pulled noodle restaurant for us in the nearby town. Yum!
