Oak Thicket Park — Reviews

Oak Thicket Park is really nice and well maintained. My only complaint is charging 6.50 for a bag of ice. My only recommendation would be for yall to paint side and center stripes on the ramps. Plan on coming back 2 more times this year.

Although we have always enjoyed staying here, we have seen a huge turnover in employees who manage the park. In the past few times that we’ve been here, we have also seen lack of park rules enforced (loose dogs running around, tent people leaving campsites trashed while staying, cars driving too fast and the wrong way, and quiet time not enforced). However, we will keep our fingers crossed in hopes that the park can go back to the reason why we enjoy it so much.

The amount of Outdoor lighting that is burned out is absolutely ridiculous. Fishing Pier, Boat Ramp, Parking Lot, RV loop, Park HQ

The facilities were good. The lake view was nice. Only negatives were the heater in the bedroom did not work. It only recirculated the air, and the overhead light in the kitchen did not work. Could have had more instructions on how to operate the TV. We will be back

The “No Campfires” sign wasn’t truly enforced to those who had campfires going, even though signs were posted everywhere and personnel did tell everyone who checked in. That could’ve been a major fire hazard to the area that was under a Burn Ban that was issued by the county.

Clean cabin, great location by the lake. I love the new dock for the people staying in the cabins! I wish the netters wouldn't keep everything they catch and the game wardens would check them more often. The bass population has declined a lot over the last few years, since the netters showed up at the lake.

Great park, quiet and peaceful.

We camp here every year with family and friends. I failed to ask their names but your park care takers were very nice and helpful. I am concerned about some trees that have died near the campsites and are leaning precariously over campers and people. However, the campground looked nicer than last year.

The staff was great. However the spots are too tight with trees and the pads are uneven.

Campsites are small and very close together. Lots of bushes and trees around lake and Campsites. They're beautiful but block ant breeze to help with the heat. We still had a great time and will come back in the fall.

Cabins were all nice, grounds were well kept, staff friendly and helpful. Our reunion had all 4 efficiencies, both 2 bedrooms and 3 RV spots. Lots of green space for setting up tables and chairs. Plenty of shade. We played all kinds of games and swam in the lake. Enjoyable long weekend. Came in Friday around 3pm and left Sunday around 11am.

Park has made a lot of improvements since we first started going there. Great work after the horrible storm of May 16. Just wish that for the price there were a few more amenities, especially wifi.

second light at boat ramp has been burned out for more than five years. all lights at fishing pier have been burned out for more than five years. both street lights in travel trailer camp circle have been burned out for more than five years. starting to see a pattern?

The updates are wonderful! Cabin is exceptionally clean and comfortable. However there is no longer a clothes bar in the bathroom. Towels are still rough. Gap under front door. Small inconveniences for such a perfect camp spot!
