A beautiful park with spacious campsites, most of which have great views of the lake. The beach is regularly groomed and the lawn trimmed. An awesome playground right on the beach. Lots of birds, including the signature pelicans, make for fascinating watching. Campers here are mostly civilized, family-oriented folk. We had a lovely four days at a site right overlooking the beach. Nearby towns of Bashaw, Ferintosh, Stettler, New Norway and Camrose offer a fun alternative to the big city malls. We found some interesting bargains.

We used to love camping at Pelican Point. Growing up, this was our place for our summer camping trips, and it holds a very special place in my heart. I was so disappointed when we pulled in this time, and during our 4-day stay. The water has receded drastically, which isn't surprising since it hasn't been fed in roughly 5 years from the Red Deer River. Though understandable, it was disappointing. The sand was perfect as always, however the shoreline had approximately 5 feet of soggy and/or dried up seaweed that you had to get through before getting into the water. The rope sectioning off the swimming area was completely covered in seaweed. The marina is gone due to the drastic drop in water levels. The worst part, that isn't Mother Nature caused, were the condition and cleanliness of the shower house and outhouses. Gross! We arrived on the Tuesday afternoon and left the Thursday afternoon. At no time were either the outhouses or shower house cleaned, garbages not emptied (which was really quite disgusting) The shower heads look like the same ones that were in there when I went there as a child. You get a whopping 5 streams of water with no water pressure... and these are showers you have to pay for. With the amount of water you get, be prepared to spend money in the showers. Though a loonie gets you a 2-minute shower, you certainly don't get enough water to clean yourself/hair etc and rinse off without taking a good 10-minute shower. I'm very sad to say, this may have been our last trip to what used to be my very favorite place. One bonus, the man in the office was probably the friendliest that has been there in the last few years, however, does not do the upkeep or cleaning that should be expected. Not once did I see any County of Camrose employees, usually summer students, out there to cut grass, clean, etc.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Pelican Point Campground. The playground was excellent, the beach was wonderful and the water warm. There are so few waterfront campgrounds on sandy beaches in southern Alberta! Our kids made friends with others and the families seemed to be mostly short term visitors and not season site rentals. Campground is 15 mins to town of Bashaw for groceries and alcohol purchases, the staff at those stores in town were lovely! And theres a hardware store there if you forgot anything for camping. There were a few cons which I will say: There was a lack of shade at our site which was tricky, we were tenting not in a trailer with an awning. I will pick a different site next year now that we know that. The outhouses close to the site were super smelly compared to standards I've seen elsewhere, that's one reason this doesn't get 5 stars from me. I would walk further to use the shower block bathroom. The other is the "absolutely no dogs on the beach rule" - people in the past not picking up after their dogs must have ruined this for future guests and beach users. In my opinion, leshed dogs should be allowed on a beach at a campground and behave better than they do when tethered at the campsite unattended. The marina is in a poor state of repair, it doesnt look like the photos on the website unfortunately, but I spoke to some locals who said newer lakeside cabin developments and boat lifts have reduced the need for a marina to be maintained. Overall, it was a very quaint and safe campground for our kids to play and roam. The other guests were respectful of the noise curfew (11pm) and we had a really fun weekend with access to everything we needed. I just prefer to read reviews that outline the pros and cons to paint the picture. We will definitely be back!

Clean and well maintained campground. Friendly and attentive staff. Water was clean and clear, but the water level was down significantly.

Amazing as always! Water was low but the beach was very well groomed!

Dumping station not very good, water pressure at dumping station are very week, took me an half a hour to fill up my fresh water tank.

Facility was great. Lots of walking trails. The kids had so much fun at the beach and it was great that they could just walk over to it. Most of teh other campers were respectful and staff was helpful which made the stay enjoyable and relaxing.
