Skull Island Campground

Our campsite itself was great. It was spacious, with a picnic table, fire pit, and plenty of room for the kids to run around. It faced an inlet of the lake with very little water flow, so there was a lot of growth and it wasn’t somewhere we wanted to swim or fish. Other sites looked like they had better water access. The “beach” was really just a grassy area leading to the water. The showers were pretty dirty with lots of bugs, and we even had a wasp fly into the piping in one of the showers. Overall, it worked well as a home base for sleeping and relaxing in the evenings while we explored Chattanooga during the day.

I loved the campsite. It was quiet and peaceful and there was separation between the lots. However, we stayed in Lot #2 and it was a bit tight to get into. The map which is on the web page does not accurately depict the layout of the lot. If it had, we would have chosen a different lot with a more straight path. But I highly recommend this campsite.

Office staff was super pleasant! The general store was small but had everything you would need in the case you forgot something at home, like I did... Bathrooms were clean and grounds were kept.
