West Coast Campground — Reviews

We paid extra to get the north end private site, it was barely private and campsites were so close together it was like a car park. We were right next to the road so had car noises the whole time, I know it was just bad timing but there was also road construction early morning that wasn’t the nicest to wake up to, we booked for two nights and only stayed for one.

Laid back but efficient vibe. Run by human beings genuinely engaged in what they are doing and are friendly and helpful, even the reminder to keep my dog leashed. The coolest showers, excellent food. They’ve figured out simplicity and efficiency and kindness.

Great cafe, close to Pacific Rim National Park.

Lovely spot between Ucluelet and Tofino. Really good prices on surf rentals.

Very friendly people. A basic campground ideally set up for surfers, swimmers, kayakers, hikers who will not be sitting around the campground. It was a Friday when I stayed and they had a nice bonfire. Bring your BBQ or use there's to cook. Or buy from the restaurant. Unfortunately I had already eaten when I got there, but people, not at the campground were enjoying music. Good fun and for the price, it works.

Nice quiet spot

Instructions not clear upfront, as we approached they sent new instructions, when we reach we saw further instructions on cooling and etc, it should be upfront. Also just two washrooms for the entire campers. That’s not sufficient, toilets are just around the common cooking area, just everything congested into one place, no privacy for toilets. Showers are outside and no hot water. Campsites do not have picnic table and very small in size.

The camp site was flooded by rain and had to leave

We arrived and were surprised at the layout as there are no dividers between sites for the RV’s/vans/trailers. But we parked in a way that gave us privacy and everything from then on was perfect. The coffee shop opens at 7:00 am so you can wake up to a delicious smoothie and coffee. I read by the fire with their resident tuxedo cat before starting the day of adventure. We were travelling with 3 kids under 5 and it was made so much easier because there was live music and a playground. The tent sites were in the forest and there were showers and big sinks for cleaning. The surf rental shop was nice and the people working were lovely, kind, and personable. We would 100% stay again. Such a fun weekend.

Terribly uncomfortable campground. Basically gravel lined stalls on the side of the highway with enough room for a car and a tent. No picnic tables, no privacy and limited amenities for $112 a night. Would not recommend.

It's an expensive parking with some amenities: no electricity, no fresh water, no dump station. There's a bar and open air showers

Convenient spot, the restaurant was VERY good. Live music is great! We stayed in one of the back spots that back on to a beautiful forest. We didn’t bike from the site but I think we could have, which is very convenient. Unfortunately there were not enough washrooms, lots of waiting in the mornings and no picnic tables at the sites - this would be an easy in-expensive addition and make the sites much better. Also no power hookups for the price.

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at the campground. The campsite was falsely advertised, and the actual conditions were very different from what was represented when I made my reservation. The campsites were extremely close together, to the point where there was essentially no privacy. More importantly, in order to access my assigned campsite, we had to walk directly through another guest’s campsite. This was not a reasonable or acceptable campsite arrangement, and the site was simply not usable for us. When we brought this issue to the staff, we were met with rude and unhelpful customer service. We were told that everything was done online and that they were unable to help us switch to another available campsite. There was another site available, but instead of the campground being willing to move our reservation or offer a refund for the unusable site, I was forced to purchase a second campsite myself. As a result, I ended up paying for two campsites because the original site was not realistically usable and the staff would not assist us in resolving the situation. This is especially frustrating because this could have easily been avoided if the staff had simply helped us move to the available site or provided a refund. Additionally, the campsite was advertised as handicap accessible, but it was not actually accessible. This is another serious issue with the accuracy of the campground’s advertising and something that should be addressed. Overall, I feel that the campground misrepresented the site, provided poor customer service when we attempted to resolve the problem, and ultimately caused me to pay twice for accommodations because they would not assist us. The only five-star experience I can give during our stay was to the gentleman who helped us with the surfboards on Friday morning. Unfortunately, I did not get his name, but he was incredibly helpful, polite, and took the time to show us what we needed for surfing. He was the one positive interaction we had with the staff, and I sincerely appreciate his help. I hope management takes this complaint seriously and reviews both the accuracy of the campsite descriptions and the way staff handle situations when guests are unhappy with or unable to use their assigned site. I also believe a refund for the original campsite is warranted given the circumstances and the fact that I had to purchase a second site because the first one was not usable.
