Buffalo Springs Lake Campground — Reviews

Tent camper here. This is for REAL campers. No glamping . Sites are just a marker pole in the ground, grass if you are lucky. Don't look for benches, table, shade or even flat spot for your tent (except for a very few spots). There is a straight stretch of road along the site where locals drag race at night. Bring earplugs. Still, many families there, with kids having the gratest time fishing and watching the many birds. An spring breakers doing what they are supposed to do. The advertized $27 per site is misleading, by the time you add booking fee and entrance fee it is more like $40. A shame, even AirBnB got to where they fully disclose fees now. But maybe it was burried in the fine prints.

Gate guard on Wednesday evening was extremely rude and condescending. Treated us like we were stealing entry into the park. Recommend that you watch video for that evening.

Great location and recreation opportunities.

A clean and peaceful place to camp. We loved the trails and paddling the lake! Close to Lubbock for supplies, but far enough from Lubbock to avoid traffic. We are already planning our next trip to Buffalo Springs Lake.

Trees need to be cut further back from the road leading to and from the campsites. It's a narrow road. If there is 2 way traffic, it puts campers too close to the trees lining the road. While leaving on the 19th, I made oncoming traffic move way over so as not to scrape my camper on the trees, which I did while there in Nov 2024, causing my awning to be torn on tree branches that were sticking out.

Sites are pretty close together and little room for parking. The cost is pretty high and the extra charge for individual entry made the stay even more costly. A nice hotel room is not much higher. The staff is very friendly and informative. The surrounding scenery is nice.

Campground is in a canyon. This severely limits cell phone connectivity. There is no WiFi at the campground. They also charge a per-person entry fee per day of $15 (30*6=180) on top of the $37/night plus $1/night processing fee (38*5=190), making the total $370 or $74/night. We decided to leave after 3 days of no connectivity to the outside world. The shower house had hot water at the sinks, but tepid water at the shower, making it useless. Very nice staff, but the leadership is way off track on what would invite guest to want to be there. Looks like they are installing a Par 3 golf course. They need to spend the resources on installing High speed internet to the campgrounds.

Staff members: Karen and Trish were very helpful. Then when I had an RV problem they helped. One of the maintenance guys. Michael (I think), helped me get the coach started.

This is a nice place, but sometime this year some kind of cow farm has moved in close by, and the stench has greatly affected our experience there. I hope this will not be a permanent thing.

We pulled in and immediately were confronted with multiple ATVs UT side-by-side driving through the campsites, loud music blaring. We had no idea that this was both a recreation area and a campground. Those two things are not very compatible sometimes. We did call back up to the gate and requested a move of campsite but never got a call back. We did however get informed that the ATUT would be shut down at dusk. And then later a police officer did drive through, but we were afraid to say anything just due to the nature of retaliation from the people in the campground. Later that evening, a car pulled up about a couple campsites away with its lights off and just sat there. We didn’t feel safe and we won’t be back.

It was nice but the shower water was not hot. The wifi was limited.

Nice place, good facilities and efficient staff

Camp grounds were clean. Not too many campers, was very quiet most of the time. Very enjoyable.

Toilets full, needed to be emptied. Wish there was water at the electric sites
