About

Placed amongst towering red and white pines, the Itasca County Fairgrounds Campground received a major renovation in 2023 with the addition of electric, water, and sewer hookups for nearly forty sites. There are ten rustic sites for those looking for a more primitive experience and six grass-field sites for those needing only electric hookup. The fairgrounds are conveniently located within walking distance from downtown and there is a fishing pier and park across the street. The event and people there were 5+, but I have some questions about the campground itself. First, the sites should be diagonal for much easier backing in without turning over grass or obstructions on the opposite side. Secondly, the sites are too short for the most part, and not very level. Thirdly, the loose gravel is too soft and allows the tires to sink in a great deal and make using leveling devices just get buried in it rather than raising the camper. Additionally, the sewer caps face the wrong direction, the caps should hing away from the camper, so the hoses don’t have to be lengthened to curve around the raised caps. We certainly enjoy staying at your venue, but these distractions are not helping the overall camping experience. Hopefully some of these might be addressed, but fearfully, several are beyond reasonable financial correction. I appreciate the opportunity to relate this information and concerns. Your office and personnel are most accommodating and kind,
