Gorge Base Camp — Reviews

We have stayed here for years. Always have a great time. Close to hood river and all the recreation options in the gorge. Clean facilities and helpful staff.

The people beside us were up at 5 am, close by, woke us up with futzing around and talking like it was daytime. Place was clean, person came out and met us. Very hospitable.

When I booked my online reservation, I was very excited. The reservation was easy to book, and the view looked spectacular from the photos. When I arrived, it was a spectacular view and check in was seamless. The bathrooms and showers are clean, and the park itself is very nice. My only complaint.... the constant freight trains that go by the campground. During the day, it is no big deal. At night, when you're trying to sleep, it is a nuisance and almost impossible to sleep.

Good location, clean bathrooms, nice view to the Columbia River. We enjoyed a glass of wine while the sun was setting. The train tracks are very close, but it's actually quite fun watching the trains. At night it can be disturbing if you are a light sleeper like myself.

Very clean and well taken care of sites. Laundry room is clean and clothes came out smelling clean and fresh! Bathrooms are large and clean. Showers are not recommended- water sprays out a tiny amount from the shower head and not very warm. Too bad because they are just so nice otherwise- nicely laid out with two handicapped and two narrow stalls. The lady in the office was friendly, professional, and accommodating. The river front sites take the brunt of the train noise, which occurs several times per night. The pull through sites on each side of the park are quieter. We’ve stayed 3 times, twice in the river front sites and this last time in site 23 (pull through), which was quieter by far. There is a lower level dog walking area which is perfect for getting the dog out. There are also tent sites and lots of extra parking for visitors. This is, imo, a great base, for visiting the area… it is not a destination in itself.

The campground, bathrooms and laundry were clean and neat. The only reason I didn't give a 5 is noise from the road and the train that runs directly behind the grounds.

Stay was great. I made a mistake and booked the wrong night and the staff still accommodated me. I appreciated their help. The only surprise was charging for the shower but it was only $0.50!

Well, the site was nice and clean but there was no reason to stay more than one night and I would only stay again in one of the cheaper, inside stalls. The River front/views can barely see the water and several trains passed while we were there for approximately 14 hours. The young man in the office was great-trying to save a beautiful young German Shepard pup someone had left or lost or what, not sure but a great human for trying to help the dog 🐾❤️

Clean, scenic and we’ll keep

Location was nice but $90/night? Highway noise was high and the view of the gas station wasn't great.

Nice park. Small park overall, I think like thirty sites total, but clean and lots of grass around. Fairly easy to maneuver around also.

Easy to find, communicative staff, clean campsite and facilities.

Clean and close to activities. Check in was seamless and the staff is great!

Resort is beautifully laid out and landscaped. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable, even giving me a guidebook for the area. It is also in a great location to explore the Columbia River Gorge. I had 2 issues with resort. One, the resort is bookended by in-use train tracks and a highway noise level. Secondly, the shower heads have a variety of pressures. The first barely got me wet and the second almost knocked me off my feet. Had a great stay!

Nice campground, however the train tracks are about 30 yards from the trailer and they ran all day and night making it very loud.
