RV / Cabin / Primitive Tent Policies

Check In / Check Out      Check in is at 1 PM CST and entitles you to your site until 11 AM CST the day after check in. Early check in is not permitted. If you will be arriving in the area early, you are welcome to check out our beach area, playgrounds, Marina Store, or lake until your site opens up at 1 PM. Late check-ins are allowed at any time, please just contact the Marina Store for instructions. Check out time is 11 AM. You do not need to contact the Marina Store for check out.

Site Changes      You have been assigned a specific site, if you wish to move, please check with the Campground Host. Due to reservations and maintenance, moving may not be possible. Please call Campground Host at (217) 324-5441 or after hours (217) 556-8958 before moving sites.

Visitors     Only registered guests are permitted to stay at reserved sites. Lake Lou Yaeger Recreational Area reserves the right to limit the number of people visiting a site. Day visitors must depart by 11:00 PM CST. Registered guests are responsible for ensuring their visitors follow all campground rules.

Electrical and Water Use     You are responsible for understanding how many amps you are using in your RV. Amp usage over the 30 or 50 AMPs provided can trip your breaker. Please be mindful of your amp usage, so that you don’t trip your breaker during your stay. You are also responsible for your water hydrant usage. Please make sure that your hose is connected properly with no leaks. Leaks can cause flooding issues for your site or your neighbors site. Please notify the Campground Host at (217) 324-5441 or after hours (217) 556-8958, so that we can notify maintenance, if you have any electrical or water issues during your stay. Guests are not permitted to diagnose our electrical pedestals or water hydrants per insurance and safety requirements. Maintenance is happy to help. Even if you are an electrician or plumber, laws prohibit you from working on our electricity or plumbing unless hired to do so.

Open Fires     Open fires are not allowed in our recreational area. Fires must be in designated fire rings. Never leave a campfire unattended and make sure it is fully extinguished before leaving it. NO burning trash in fire rings. We have firewood available for purchase from the Campground Host and the Marina Store.

Clotheslines, Etc     Clotheslines, portable hot tubs, and baby or inflatable pools are not permitted at campsites or cabins. 

Primitive Tent Camping     One tent per campsite is allowed unless small tents then two tents per site may be allowed. Due to limited parking space near primitive sites, please park in primitive parking lot after loading / unloading at reserved campsite.

Respect    Please be respectful of your neighbor. Please do not play loud music or other loud noises that may disturb other campers. Zero tolerance for physical or verbal violence – one strike, you’re out. We reserve the right to eject, without refund, anyone causing a nuisance or being inconsiderate to other guests, or vandalizing Lake Lou Yaeger Recreational Area / City of Litchfield property.

Quiet Time Policies      Quiet time is 11 PM to 7 AM. Anyone playing loud music will be warned only once and then asked to leave without a refund.

Navigation     Do not walk between sites when navigating the recreational area. Please use main roads, sidewalks, and designated public paths to walk around.

Drugs/Alcohol    The use of drugs, including marijuana, is strictly prohibited. Please keep all alcoholic beverages at your own campsite. We ask that you drink responsibly and not disturb other guests.

Pet Policies

Number of Pets    There is a maximum of 2 pets allowed at each campsite. No pets are allowed in the cabins.

Leash       We ask that you keep your pets on a leash at all times. This helps you, your pet, and other guests and other guests’ pets stay safe.

Buildings and Beach Area      Pets are not allowed in any buildings. County and state health codes do not allow pets in our buildings or beach area. Please do not tie your pet to our trees, doors, or posts.

Cleaning Up After Your Pet        Be a good neighbor and clean up after your pet always. Do not let your pet deposit waste on your site or any of our other guests’ sites please. Failure to clean up after your pet will result in you being asked to leave without a refund.

Leaving Pets Unattended       Pets may not be left unattended in our recreational area. Please do not tie your pet to a tree and leave. Leaving your pets unattended is dangerous for your pet as many factors including weather, power outages, etc. can affect your pet’s well-being while you are away.

Barking    Excessive barking is not tolerated and disturbs your neighbors. Please note that excessive barking may result in you being asked to leave without refund.

Vehicle Policies

Speed Limit       The recreational area speed limit is 25 mph. This policy is to keep you, your children, and your pets safe. Exceeding this speed limit will result in a warning. Multiple warnings will require us to ask you to leave. Safety is our number one priority for our guests.

Parking       Each paid guest registration covers 1 RV per site and 1 vehicle per site unless noted. Extra vehicles will need to be parked in additional parking areas. Please do not park on our grass. Ruts caused in your site due to additional vehicles will result in damage charges. No parking in common areas. Do not park in the middle of the road. Do not park in sites that you did not register for. Parking on the grass is not permitted at RV Sites, cabins, or in tent areas. The campground host can assist in directions to additional parking lots.

ATV’s. Dirt Bikes, Motorcycles, and Golf Carts    Motorized personal vehicles are not allowed and may not be used within the recreational area per city ordinances and state statues.

General Recreational Area Policies

Severe Weather      In case of severe weather, seek shelter in the restrooms and/or shower houses. Signs for shelter areas are posted. We love pets, so please bring them with you, on leash or in pet carriers, and please do not leave them at your campsite during severe weather warnings. The City of Litchfield is not responsible for damage caused by storms or falling trees/limbs.

Restrooms     For the comfort of all our guests, restrooms are open 24/7 with exception of a temporary closing for cleaning once per day. We ask for your help in keeping the restrooms clean, please. Guests under the age of 18 need adult supervision in the restrooms and shower houses as well as the beach area. If an issue needs to be addressed, please contact the Marina Store during business hours at (217) 324-5441 or the Campground Host after hours at (217) 556-8958.

Beach & Playgrounds       Playgrounds open at 7 AM after quiet time and closes at dusk. Anyone under 18 must be supervised in these areas and all areas of the campgrounds at all times. Alcohol is not permitted in any playground area. Loud music, glass, and rough play are not permitted at any of the playgrounds. Please do not let your children climb our trees, as it damages them. Failure to follow these rules will result in you being asked to leave without refund. Beach is open daily from 11:00 am – 7:00 pm.

Fishing and Fish Cleaning      Illinois fishing license required for boat and shore fishing. Fishing licenses can be purchased in Litchfield at Wal-mart. Our Marina Store has live bait for sale. Two poles per fisherman. Line fishing only - jug or trotline fishing is not allowed. Harvest limits: Largemouth / smallmouth bass - 3 per day with minimum length of 15 inches, Channel catfish - 6 per day per fisherman, Crappie - no limit, no size restriction. Cleaning fish is permitted only on your campsite or at designated fish cleaning areas. All waste must be bagged and disposed of immediately and appropriately in dumpsters. Campers may NOT clean fish in restrooms.

Trash Disposal and Recycling      Trash cans and dumpsters are located throughout the park. Please tie trash bags completely closed and put your trash completely in the trash container. If the first can is full, please find another container. Please do not place your trash on the ground. Woodland creatures like deer, possums, and raccoons are attracted to left out or disposed of food. While we think they are cute and wonderful animals, we don’t want you to find a surprise night visiting racoon at your site because of incorrectly disposed of trash! Do not dispose of wires, oil, furniture, mattresses, or any toxic waste or chemicals in our trash cans or dumpsters. Do not burn or put smoking ashes in dumpsters and/or trash cans. Trash cans are emptied once per day. Dumpsters are emptied once per week. Times may vary due to maintenance scheduling requirements throughout the day. Failure to adhere to this rule may result in charges for disposal fees.

Children      Children under 18 must be supervised by an adult at all times in all areas of Lake Lou Yaeger Recreational Area. Anyone under the age of 18 must be back at their site by dusk. Children may not use the restrooms or shower houses without being accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children are not allowed to ride scooters, bikes, or skateboards in the recreational area without adult supervision.

Drones    The use of drones is not permitted in our recreational area.

Loss of Items    All found items will be taken to the Marina Store, please check there if you are missing your item. The City of Litchfield is not responsible for losses or injuries due to fire, failure of any utility, theft, or accident in the park area for any reason whatsoever.

Fireworks and Firearms      Fireworks and firearms are strictly prohibited in our recreational area. The prohibiting of fireworks includes sparklers, smoke bombs, aerials, and firecrackers. The prohibiting of firearms includes all guns including air soft, BB, and pellet guns. If these items are seen outside of your vehicle/campsite, you will be asked to leave immediately without a refund.

Safety and Emergencies      No soliciting is allowed. If you observe any activity you believe to be of concern, call the Campground Host or Marina Store at (217) 324-5441 during business hours 8 AM - 6 PM or (217) 313-1189 after hours. If you need to call 911 for any reason, and time allows, please call the Lake Superintendent at (217) 313-1189.
