Starved Rock Family Campground — Reviews

We had the RV site I-5 and LOVED IT! There was so much space, a large tree for shade and close enough to the park! The site was very clean and level! Above all else, the staff is probably the friendliest staff we have experienced. We will make this a regular visit!

I thought this place was great, thought they would have had someone in the office more especially because their was stuff to do in there. We didn't have wood and couldn't get any from the office because no one was in the there and their wasnt any notice. A little more information on events happening would be great with times etc. Check in process was fast and easy. The kids wouldnt swim because it was freezing cold. And overall a nice clean place.

Campground is clean and well maintained. Hosts were friendly and accommodating.

The spot we were assigned should be allotted for smaller campers. Our camper is 39' we had to maneuver between trees with cars parked on opposite side making it even harder. We were told we would be given a 10% discount if we posted a positive Google review which we didnt receive. We had to share a water hookup which was 50' away and we didnt have enough hose but they did give us a hose to use. They have a storage unit to the rear of our camper and had to listen to them running chainsaws, lawnmower and I believe a motorcycle revving for almost an hour in the morning. Then in the evening one the personnel pulled up right behind our camper in a lawnmower and chatted with his buddies for 15mins while we were trying to watch a movie. We were very disappointed. Had we known all this wouldve happened we wouldn't have given this park a positive review.

We love this campground, and it works perfectly for visiting family members living in the area. The only issue we had was when we returned to our campsite Friday evening, our neighbors truck and camper was way too close to our site. We would never have been able to have a fire that evening, because their slide was within 3 feet of our fire pit. We will definitely choose a different site next visit.

We had very spotty WiFi at our Site, Other than that we were very happy with our site and the Staff. This was our first time out, so we are working out the kinks and did not have much time to explore the whole area.
