Dan Nicholas Park — Reviews

Rated4.0out of 5Great!
Staff was very accommodating. Beautiful park with lots of shade and a large lake.

Unfortunately the bathroom/shower house we book close to was closed for renovations. Had we known we would have selected a different spot. Please list that on the sites. Also, we love this campground for several reasons but one of the top reasons is that it is smoke free, however several times we were bombarded with smoke from a surrounding campsite.

Although NC has a fire ban and you cannot grill with charcoal or have a fire the park was very clean and the staff was very nice. The park was quiet and we got to visit family in the area. We were pleasantly surprised that a county park was so well kept. We will be back again.

Park is clean, sites are cleaned up before you arrive. Great location. Family friendly place to be. Staff has always been great as well. One of my favorite spots to visit.

The staff had the site cleared of leaves and tried to keep roadway clear too.

We ended up not staying at all. Zero reception within miles of the park. Park was pitch black. With two kids under five, felt as if this was not a safe option incase anything happened

Dirty with no gravel anywhere , unkept cabins and road ways, branches hit the camper all the way in, no sewer hook ups , bath houses older then Abraham Lincoln, and the rangers were anything but pleasant. A tree crashed down suddenly right beside us and could have hurt someone very badly because and there where lots of other dead trees getting ready to do the same and there’s no upkeep to keep it from happening. It’s a states park in Rowan county so don’t know why I’d expect anything different.

We really enjoy the campground. Loved the setting. However the only reason for my 2 ⭐️ ⭐️ is because the cabins smelled musty when we arrived and the smell didn’t leave all weekend. Cabins need to be majorly renovated. Pretty sure they would fail a mold test.
