Lake Camanche South Shore — Reviews

It was quiet and peaceful. Friendly neighbors , dog friendly and clean. Lots of sheriff patrol l.

The trout pond was great. You also have lots of access to the lake which you could also fish too. Our campsite was at Monument and we had lots of shade and a water front view. Terrain was great for bike and scooter riding.

We stayed in site #51 in Monument. There is a huge tree root that goes across the whole site and has raised and torn up the asphalt where we had to park our RV and truck. We had our 3 grandkids with us and we all tripped over it all weekend long. We have camped at Camanche many times and always been happy but that site needs to be fixed before someone really hurts themselves.

Although the location is beautiful this time of year, the facilities were in bad shape. Garbage around camp site and dumpsters are too far away from sites. Restrooms were not clean and dryers did not work. Cost seemed high for what you get.

We have a good stay in Camanche South Shore , good location and clean area but why only 3 Stars.Only few showers was working in Mens Restroom, We stayed for two nights but in our 2nd night 10PM is the start of the Silent time but some Campers wont turn down their Music and turn off their Generators. Some Campers keeps on shouting to each other during the silent time or could be drunk.

The campsite was really nice and we enjoyed our stay here.

The stay at the lake was great,but they refunded my security deposit to someone else’s card. I’ll call in the morning to hopefully fix it. But the stay as always was great.

The 5 day stay was wonderful, nice and quiet during the week, trailer pads are flat and there are trees for shade. Although, there are a few items to be improved. Many of the fire pits were full of ashes and needed to be cleared. Some areas around the fire pits were used to discard the overflowing ashes which left dogs and children to trample through. The Monument campground needs to be monitored more from the day use individuals driving through the campsite with loud exhaust mufflers at 5:30 am, parking in empty campsites and using foul language throughout the day. We camped in March and the South Shore Marina was closed Monday and Tuesday or maybe it was M-W, that was a bummer as well.

Everything was great.

Gate closes at 8 pm with no check in after and even if you’re already checked in you must wait for security to drive by and let you in. We waited and waited, a park resident let us in - no security no ranger ever showed up. Fire pit was full and should have been cleaned before our check in.

Our stay at Lake Camanche was perfect and peaceful. We were able to enjoy the birds and the pond area. There were only a few campers and all was quiet. We enjoy camping there at this time of the year-you’re able to enjoy nature instead of having to listen to people yelling or loud music.

I love the fact that the campground is kept clean and everyone in my area respected the quiet hours, so it was very relaxing and enjoyable. I am a bird watcher so being able to watch all of the swans, ducks, geese, and white pelicans on the lake was wonderful. thank you again for another great camping experience.
