Smoky Mountain Campground — Reviews

We were led to believe by the web site and youtube tour that this was shady, creekside camping. Instead it is a hot gravel parking lot on a cliff side with a creek at the bottom. The campsites are at closes quarters with no buffer. Also, the bath house was minimal. On the men’s side one of the showers had loose tiles that can cut someone’s foot and one of the toilets isn’t securely bolted to the floor. On the ladies side only one of two toilets was operational. Each day during our stay, but especially on the day of our arrival, there was a strong smell of raw sewage throughout our part of the area, probably from someone’s unit not properly plumbed into the waste drain. This happened every day according to the wind direction.

Our site was right on Deep Creek, so got to hear the rushing water while relaxing under the shade trees. They had live music on the weekend which was very enjoyable. The campground is only a few yards from the National Park and only a couple miles to Bryson City. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Everything was super convenient and easy to access, we'll definitely use them again!

We absolutely love this place. We have come in July for 5 years and we love it every time. The hosts make you feel like family. It is safe and so fun for the kids and the activities are centered around families but anyone will have fun!

Pros- On the creek, power & electric Cons- smallest camp spots ever, less than pleasant bathhouse, poor customer service, way too much (over $100) Never again

The property is so beautiful and the location is awesome. Listening to the constant sound of Deep Creek will renew you and give you life. The staff is super friendly. The general store onsite has whatever you need. Thanks for keeping Celsius in stock!!! There’s tubes to rent onsite, makes it easy. Live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Lots of families with kids, the kids playing all over the place all together just like the old days. Great groups of people, all kinds, everyone enjoying themselves and the land. This is a place you will come back to every year and create memories with people.

Overall, we had a good stay at the Smoky Mountain Campground in Bryson City, NC. We enjoyed time with old friends and made new friends too. We enjoyed the ice cream at the general store and the live music at the pavilion by the creek. Tubing the creek was fun and reasonably priced with the camper discount. Maintenance of the bathhouse was lacking. There was only one working stall in the women’s restroom. There was no hot water until I told my husband and he discovered that the hot water heater was unplugged. He plugged it in and it worked well…a simple solution that was overlooked. Another camper told me she had reported the issue along with the need for hand soap which was not refilled. The other BIG issue, or should I say, small, is the size of the sites. There is very little room between sites and your sitting space is next to your neighbor’s sewer hookup. That’s unfortunate considering we paid about double of what we’d typically pay for a site elsewhere and got about half the space. If I knew friends that were going, I’d come back, but I wouldn’t call this a top 10 camping destination.

There wasn’t many guest at the park during my stay but. Always a but. If there had been the lots were so close togeather that my awning could have shaded part of my neighbors lot. Other than that it was quiet and relaxing

there was only one bathroom for the whole campgrounds and the 3 days I was there, it was never cleaned. It is not for tent campers, as you are just on the gravel road by your car. They had music the one night which was fun.

We loved it. It's beautiful there we had fun tubing the creek and sitting fireside. It's also really a cool place to camp, the hosts and staff were super friendly and helpful always. The location is perfect, views are perfect. We got to see a live band and that was fun. We have zero complaints and hope to return

Every thing was fine. I liked our spot next to the river. The only thing that was bothersome was there were loud trucks going in and out several times in the middle of the night and it kept waking us up. I don’t know if it was someone staying there or not. There were only 3 other people staying at the campground other than us so I’m not sure who it was. It’s close to the entrance to the Deep Creek side of the Smokies. So we spent most of our time there. Also a short drive from Bryson City so we went there at night for dinner and a drink.
